Hello,
For sale a good condition pair of Polk RT55i speakers. I would prefer
a local Chicago-land area sale. The price is $150.00

Man I would love to have those, always loved Polk's BIG bookies.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

I have a pair of Polk RT55i speakers that used to be RT55s. I bought them from a guy here on the forums who consulted with Polk and bought all the upgrade components from Polk in order to change these to RT55i. (I believe that included the crossovers and tweeters).
I also have a CS400 center.
All are black.
Sonically, these are perfect.
Aesthetically, they need some TLC. The thicker black vinyl over the front baffles that wraps around the curved front edges has pulled away from some of the edges. It got stiff so you can't glue it back down.
I talked to the head of Polk customer service and he told me the only real "fix" is to remove the drivers, remove the vinyl, and paint the baffle boards. With 4 kids in the house, I've never gotten around to doing that fix. But we've been using them as they are. They don't look AWFUL - not even bad. They just need that fix.
The grills are in good shape.
We just bought a house and are moving in June.
I really love these speakers, but I'm not going to be able to use all of them in the new house. I could use the 55is for a stereo system, but I can't use the CS400. I also have a pair of 5jr+ that I can use for the stereo, so I'd like to sell the 55is and the 400 as a set.
I'm in Little Rock. Shipping could mean I get basically nothing for them, or you pay more than you want. But I'm willing to look into it. I could probably get them to Kansas City for free (we still have friends there who we see occasionally).
If I could put $200 in my pocket, for all three speakers, I'd be happy. I need to buy much much smaller fronts and a center for this house. -
