Speaker location plan.
I'd like to place my 2 PA Monitor 70's alongside 2 PA R170's in order to have FOUR main fronts (using my receiver's normal main front channels and it's "front height" [PLIIz] channels respectively). I also want to place my two small PA R15's directly on top of either the Monitors or the R170's, using the receiver's rear-surround channel for those. In other words I want to (hopefully) create a front-only(no rear at all) "wall" or traditional concert stage set-up specifically when listening to older classical CD's. My receiver, the DENON AVR790, would be set for stereo, sending same signal to all 7.1 channels. Anyone see any problems with this plan? Will appreciate any input. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

When you set your receiver for stereo mode it will only play out of the front speakers or the L/R channel on your receiver. That is unless you have some EXT Stereo mode that plays all channles like on my Pioneer. If you hook up the R15's to the surround channels, they won't play in stereo or direct mode. The only work around would be if your receiver has a bi-amp mode that allows you to use your surround channels to power the fronts. If you can do that, then you would be able to do what your are talking about and send the same "front" signal to the R15 as well as the R170s.Samsung LN52A650 : PS3 : RTi A7s : CSi5 : SVS PC12-NSD : Pioneer VSX-9040THX : Emotiva XPA-3 =
