Wow!!!
Another opportunity for me to not like Rush!!!:p;)
Seriously though...how old are these guys getting now? These shows probably aren't going to be anything too terribly special. Rush is essentially a cover band anymore anyway. It's not like they've got anything new coming out.
What are tickets gonna be? $200 or so each?
Either way...I wouldn't even go to this show if someone bought me a ticket, paid for gas and beer, and drove me there. I would prefer not to see Rush.
For those of you Rush fans though...have a good time(though I can't imagine how:p)!The nirvana inducer-

Assuming RUSH has lost 75% of their original and prodigious talent due to age and other factors over the years, they would STILL be 100% more talented than any of the current acts that call themselves musicians.:p:DThe Gear... Hmmm...lets see. A cover band? I dont think so. Thier last album Snakes and Arrows debuted at #2 on Billboard and was a great album. I saw them on that tour and they were every bit as kick **** as when I saw them the first time in 1976. And yes, they are currently in the studio putting together another album of new material. Your loss if you dont go. Their kind of talent and musical ability is a very rare thing these days!Music and Movie Rig

I saw Rush in 82 or 83 on their 2112 tour in Germany. I smuggled my 35 mm camera in and pushed the film as far as I could. If you squint real hard you can imagine the attached shots are of Neil, Geddy and Eric. Girls School was the opening act. In the mid/late 90s I saw the Roll the Bones tour in Boise and they did the entire 2112 album as a second set. Both decades rocked. I'll bet their current tour is more polished than ever.

Very cool pics, even though they're distorted. If it was 82/83 that would have been their Signals Tour. I can tell its from that time period just by the way the guys look (yes, I am that much of a Rush geek). I missed that tour but did see the Moving Pictures Tour and then every other tour from 84 to 88 when I lived in dallas.Music and Movie Rig

My bad...uh, 2112 was released in 76. Old age is getting the best of me. It was actually 81. Found the concert listing on-line:
Rush at Walter-Köbel-Sporthalle, Rüsselsheim
Date November 17, 1981
Band Rush
Tour Exit...Stage Left
Venue Walter-Köbel-Sporthalle
City Rüsselsheim, Germany
I have the ticket stub somewhere but can't locate it...damned memory again.➀Speakers: Polk1.2tl's (Uber Mods) ➁Pre/Amp/DAC: PS Audio BHK Signature & 250, DirectStream ➂Cables/IC's: MIT S1Bi-Wire/S1 Balanced +Avel Lindberg 1000VA "Dreadnought" ➃Power Conditioner: PS Audio P15 Power Plant ➄Power Cords: Core Power Technologies Gold, DH Labs Power Plus DIY w/Neotech NC-P301 & P311ends ➅Streaming: Roon ROCK on wifi'd NUC, TP-Link WAP, & Uptone EtherREGEN, AfterDark, Emperor Double Crown Clock, Black Modernize LPS, PS Audio AirLens⟿Ω☯☥☮⟿🔊♩♪♫♬♩♪♫♬♩♪♫♬ -

Wow, I had no idea they'd come out with anything so recently. My bad.
It is definitely NOT my loss if I don't go though. If I went to a Rush concert, I'd be forced to jam screwdrivers in my ears just so I didn't have to hear it anymore.
No offense to anyone who likes them...but I literally, CAN'T stand Rush. The instant a Rush song comes on the radio, I hurry to change it, so I only have to hear as little of it as I absolutely have to. Seriously.
I got a vinyl copy of Rush "Moving Pictures" in a box of vinyl a while back. I've never listened to it, or for that matter even taken it out of the sleeve to check the condition. The sleeve is in nearly pristine shape though. The only reason I'm even keeping it is because the cover is kinda cool looking.
I am not a fan.

If not mistaken didn't Rush have 60,000 people show up to one there shows in Brazil a few years back. It's considered one of there biggest shows ever.

Curt,
That's your loss man. You never truly appreciate Rush until you see them live. They are probably the best live band I've ever heard. Simply amazing, especially for just being three people. I took several friends to both the R30 and Snakes and Arrows tours in Atlanta. Most of these folks had never seen Rush live before and a couple didn't even really care for Rush, but let me talk them into going anyways. Everyone of them are now Rush fans. If you hate Rush, you more than likely will not care for them anyways, but I bet you would have a new-found respect for their musicianship and talent if you saw them live. Again that's your loss, but YMMV, to each his own, etc, etc.
Oh yeah, I'll gladly pay you for the Moving Pictures LP if you want to get rid of it. -

I will take you up on that offer as soon as the summer va-ca begins! (in a month, or so....) -

Eric or Alex? -
I heard they had to retrofit Neil Pert's drum kit to accomodate his walker.
Don't get me wrong, I remember back to the days of my youth playing Dungeons and Dragons and jamming out to Rush, but at some point...these great bands need to 'exit stage left' gracefully...IMO. -
Eric or Alex?
Alex...honestly, I do know better:o One of my high school friends that went to the concert was Eric. Nah...I'm gonna hang on to it. Rush albums make great kindling for starting bonfires.;) Seriously though, the only reason I'm keeping it is for collection purposes. I'll probably never even listen to it a single time. The covers pretty cool looking though.
I've gotta admit though, every time I'm flipping through my records and get to the Rush album...I die a little bit inside, simply knowing that I paid money for a Rush album. Sure...I only paid like 10 bucks for a box with like 20 records in it...but even still, at $.50 for a near pristine condition Rush album, I think I really got the **** end of that deal...lmaoCurt,

Eh...definitely not my loss IMO. The idea of going to a Rush concert makes me want to throw up...lol I respect them as musicians, and the impact they've had on music. I just think they completely blow donkey balls.
You could buy me a ticket, come pick me up, buy me dinner, pay for my beer, and give me $100 cash...and I still wouldn't go. Seriously...lol...I would just prefer to never see Rush at any point in my life. I feel like my life won't be complete, unless I make a point of never seeing a live Rush show.
But...many people will say the same things about my favorite bands.LessisNevermore wrote: »And to think you wasted an opportunity to NOT post in a thread about a band you hate.

Curt,
Have you ever sat down and listened to the early Rush
1) Rush
2) Caress of Steel
3) Fly By Night
4) Farewell To Kings
These are awesome Rush albums. As the band progressed they lost some of their edge (IMO) and moved towards prog. rock, but there are still some gems amongst the later stuff. I like everything up to and including Hemisphere's. After that they are hit and miss.
I have a bootleg from 1976 called "The Fifth Order of Angels" of a Cleveland radio studio broadcast. Smoking, hot, killer, performance. When I see you I'll give you a copy of you promise to give a good listen before discarding it.

Sure it could. Jerry Garcia and Richard Wright could come back from the dead...spurring simultaneous reunions of both Pink Floyd and The Grateful Dead. They will then plan a tour together, and invite me along for the ride.
I'll sit in on guitar with both bands of course.:)
