April 17th through 25th is National Parks Week.

To celebrate, admission to 392 National Parks across the country is free.
From the National Parks Service:

"To make it easier to experience America's Great Outdoors, the National Park Service is waiving entrance fees, so visitors can enjoy all 392 national parks for free April 17-25."

http://www.nps.gov/npweek/

Keep in mind that many historic landmark sites across the country are also National Parks.

So grab your kids and go out for the day and see a National Park near you. It's educational, fun and good exercise as well. Not to mention some of the most breath-taking sites you'll see in this world. Go find out why it's called America the Beautiful.

Me, I'm gonna take advantage and take the GF (she's from England) to Independence National Historic Park and show her where we thumbed our collective nose and at the King and Jolly 'Ole England. Cherry blossoms at the north end of Franklin square should still be in bloom then too. Nice carpet of pink petals on the ground as well.

Awesome. I will help spread the word. I hope lots of peeps get out and enjoy nature again.

Nothing even comes close to being outdoors in all it's natural beauty. Nothing!

    ew...nature!

If I lived closer to any "national parks" or related areas, I'd like to go. The closest thing I have is the "Evergreen Space and Aviation Museum".

Soon to have an indoor waterpark and lodge!!
(it's a sad world around here)

Better check out the website. I think camping fees are still being charged but entry fees are waived.

Yes, you are very correct. However, traveling with my son is a dicey situation with his behavioral issues and such. Unless it's real close by (under 30 minutes) it becomes real difficult. I might do some GoogleMap'ing and see if any are "close" to close-enough.

I'm thinking we're gonna fly out to Cali and visit Yosemite again, the waterfalls should be in full force...

Yosemite is my favorite place on earth, of the few I've visited of course.

It's cool, we're used to paying $7-$10 a night for a campsite. Sometimes we just throw a $20 in there--it's well worth it for the beauty/fun of the whole experience.

We're planning on a daytrip this weekend to one of our local Forest Service places, Sabino Canyon, and maybe with no entrance fees, well make a trip to Suguaro East NP. next weekend.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.
