I've Rti8, csi5 and a Sony V444ES AVR. Obviously I am trying to cross them at 80hz. In the setup, I set the Sub, LRC to 80hz.. all good.. But then there is a crossover for LFE which set to STD/120hz automatically. My question is should I leave it at 120hz? or set to 80hz... because 120hz is highly directional. plus, there is a chance that I may get double dose from the Rti8 too (80-120hz). But set if I am wrong and set to 80hz, then I am losing 80-120hz range for the .1 channel.

anyone who use sony stuffs please help me understand this

Try running the auto calibration and see where it puts everything. I agree with Sherardp though, 80hz is usually the happy point.

Sherardp is right. All your speakers have good bass extension to well below 80hz so it makes NO sense not to cross them over there. That Sony may be suggesting a crossover for 'smaller' satellites. That's what it sounds like to me. But you are NOT running satellites.

yes, you're right. I have to set to "small" to be able to adjust the crossover. afterall, the Rti8 is small, not fullrange speaker

this is an old AVR, doesn't have auto cal. but it gives good power to speakers (120WPC at .05 THD). last night, I set the volume to 7/10 while playing fast&furious. my roommate set her tv vol to max upstair and yet unable to hear her movie and the walls are vibrating. Rti8 are sharp and clear for HT...but man, it sucks at music. waiting on a deal for Rti A9 right now and put the Rti8 to the back

RTi-8s are not the most 'musical' speaker in that series..of the towers the 12s or A9s are the best for music and even the Rti-6s and A-3s (bookshelves) are better for 2 channel--believe it or not.

It also may also be, partly, the Sony's fault, It may distort at higher volumes and make things sound less musical?

the sound is clean and clear, it's just that the rti8s are too bright for music. i am waiting for the $350 deal at Fry's to come back on the A9
