Looking for an Adcom 555. I see a couple on the gon I am eyeing but wanted to see did any polkies have any laying around. I know there are a couple different versions of this amp. Starting my 2channel journey and this is my amp of choice for the the time being from my research. Thanks

Good place to start. I own one myself--an original. Those are the 'best' of the 555s...but may need some work to get them up to their full potential. What will really help the 555 is the selection of a good quality PRE-amp.....unfortunately, for an Adcom, that means either a GFP-750 (the best and probably more than twice what you'll pay for the 555), or the GFP-715.....cheaper but probably still more than the 555 alone. That's if you want to stay all Adcom. But that's not really necessary.

I suggest you find a nice 'warm' pre to go with that! Depending of course on whether or not your speakers are on the 'bright/forward' side.

Yeah I have read great reviews about the 555. Right now it will be used intergrated with my home theater with some kef IQ7's. Next I will be looking for a pre with a home theater bypass. Eventually I will have a rig dedicated to channel once everything is complete. About to start auditioning speakers hopefully will be complete by years end.

That's a good deal from Larry above. I plan to have my 555 serviced by Ben when and if I get to Atlanta some time this fall. He's a great guy and he does fantastic 'work'! If you need anything done...send him a PM once you get the unit unless you buy Larry's--if he's selling!
