AQ Type 4

I have a set of these speaker cables going to my mains. They have the factory terminated banana ends. Unfortunately on one of my mains the banana is loose and doesn't have a tight fitting to the speaker. Can I change the ends to spades or can I modify the banana to have a better fitting?

TIA

If you look at the banana ends do they have two small hex-screws?

If so, you can easily swap the bananas for spades - audioquest sells 'kits' of 4 that includes the small hex-wrench.

You could also just remove the banana ends and use bare wire.

There must be something wrong with that problem main of yours - I use AQ wires with banana ends and they all fit snuggly.

I would look closely at the 'bad' banana and compare it to one that fits correctly. I will bet that it is just compressed alittle and some gentle prying with an exacto or a small screwdriver would 'open' it up. Not too much is really needed.

    +1

The factory bananas can tighten up a little bit, which makes them fit more loosely.

I'm using AQ Type 4's, and the connections are very secure.

+1 - my AQs have the same issue, sometimes they get a little loose when moved a lot. I've found a very simple fix is to take a pen and simply push it into the banana's connector to open it up enough (without opening it too much, they won't need much prying).

My AQ4's have nanners but came with screw-on spades. If you see "male" threads at the bottom of the nanner then you should be able to do the same (the spades have "female" threads)

    I didn't know that.

    Would these screw on?
