I am having fuel take system issues with my 1991 F150. I got some questions.. so I am looking for a forum where I can find out what's up with my truck.
here is the problem though if anyone has suggestions on what to do.
truck had dual gas tanks. THe front one does not work.. could be a fuel pump problem, but I think it could also be a fuse holder problem. Since the fuse holder for the tank is corroaded out. so no fuse there.
anyway, the real problem is that I can't use the front tank. i replaced the gas cap because it was building up lots of pressure and gas was gushing out every time I would remove the cap. Gushing to the tune of about a cup ever time I just loosen the cap. i siphoned out as much from the non working tank, but lots of pressure still builds up.
AND, lots of pressure also builds up in the good working tank, but it does not gush out like the other one. I never overfill the gas tank.
so i would like to solve this gas gushing problem once and for all.
bugs the hell out of me.

Sounds like a good project for the weekend Al, lol. Here is a Google search, the first one looks like a pretty good one. Hope you get it fixed up, IIRC you haven't had that truck long.

I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
Those trucks with dual tanks back then were notorious for the fuel switching valve going bad. I don't remember exactly what the guys were repairing/replacing to get them to work. May want to concentrate a search into the valve.Parasound C1, T3, HCA-3500, HCA-2205A, P/DD1550, Pioneer DV-79avi, Oppo BDP-83, WD Media Server W/HDD,

I second what Amherst said. A buddy of mine has that same truck and had that problem and it was that valve. Now he just has to figure out why it won't stay running. You have to pulse the gas pedal in order to keep it running. It starts just fine without pumping the pedal but then you have to pumping it pretty quick after just to keep it running.
Good luck on finding out what is going on.I know just enough to be dangerous, but don't tell my wife, she thinks I'm a genius.
