CS1/2 angled height

My TV stand has a 8" opening about 14" off the ground. Both the CS1 and the CS2 will fit in there (CS1=7" CS2=7.75"), but I'm wondering if either will fit angled? I have no room on top of the stand because of the TV. I'm not sure how far up the Monitor 60s tweeter is, but I have a feeling at 14" the center will not match that of the 60's. If I angle either center will it fit in the opening, anyone know the height measurement while it's angled? Should I not worry too much about it as it will be sitting 14" off the ground, which center to get?
much thanks!
much thanks!

I have the CS1 ordered from Newegg... can't beat $69 shipped. It is actually for my dad, I have the CS10. It will be here tomorrow and I can take a measurement when I get it. I am sure someone else will chime in before then, but I have you covered just in case!

Thanks Jemrey, looks like the CS2 needs 9" of clearance to be tilted, so that's not going to work, titled at least. I think I'd prefer the CS2 over the CS1, but if I can't tilt the CS2, gotta figure out if that will be a problem having it at 14" high not matching up with the 60's.

Whatever you need to do to make the CS2 work, do it, lol. That CS2 is a far superior center channel than the CS1, and you will not be dissapointed that you got it. It can be a bit tricky to get in small areas, but try it flat first and see how you like it. I have my center in a very bad position and it still sounds very good.

Thanks for the heads up, I think I will be picking up the CS2 Cherry today, it's $119 and that looks to be a pretty good deal. Looks like the 60s are sold out in black so I'm going with the cherry. Is $139 a good deal for the 60's or should I hold out a little longer on those? I'm a little impatient and was originally looking at the black, but now the cherry is looking appealing to me as I'd like to have it this weekend!

$139 is about as good as you are going to find them. Not many E-Tailers still stock the Monitors and the ones that do have them anywhere from $150-$199 ea. Newegg ocasionally has sales on the Monitors, but they are few and far between these days. At $139, the 60's are a very good buy. Are you planning on getting a sub? AVR? Surrounds? Or do you already have these?

it doesn't give a huge angle, but I have my CS1 resting on its grill to tilt it up.. might want to think about that and see if it gives you enough angle if turning it upside down doesn't work.Main 2ch -

I have a Pioneer 919 and a Yamaha Sub, but I'm really torn on the CS1 or Cs2. Since I have the sub, crossover will be at 80, is it overkill to get the CS2? Am I going to get that much more out of it. I really want to pick these up today, but I'm torn on the center...

Did you decide which one to go with? I read a TON of reviews in regards to the CS1, and most of them said that it sounds awesome.... but then there are a lot of comments about the CS2 sounding even better, so I am curious to know which way you went.

Hi Son of Thunder ("Boanerge"?)!
I am a complete novice at this, but for what its worth, I recently purchased a CS2 and have it positioned beneath my 67-inch DLP. It is matched with a pair of Monitor 70s in front and Monitor 60s in the rear, and to my ears all five speakers sound great together. I had considered the CS1 before I bought the CS2, but like Jeff, I researched both centers. My research always indicated that the CS2 gave you more actual audio depth(?) and range(?) than the CS1. I suppose that has to do with the difference in mid-woofer size - 6.50-inch mid-woofer (CS2) versus the 5.25-inch mid-woofer (CS1). I leaned heavily on the comments from guys like Jemrey and Jeff, and wasn't disappointed in choosing the CS2 - (but I have not been able to set them side by side to let my ears determine the actual difference). If I had to do it again I would still choose the CS2.
Best Wishes,
Pappy

The CS1 is a good center as well, many people have made it work in their rigs, but most have had to turn up the volume to compensate for the smaller drivers. I usually suggest the CS2 with the Monitor 60's or higher, and it wouldn't hurt to use it with the Monitor 50's either. It is a better investment in case you decide to upgrade your mains and send the 60's to surround duty in the future, lol. The center channel carries something like 50-75% of the audio in any movie, esp. dialouge, so you don't want to skimp.

I ran into a small problem (possibly) after measuring again. My TV stand has iron bars arched all around (which I didn't realize) so the CS2 won't slide in as I had planned. I would need to take it apart and reassemble it with the CS2 inside (no big deal). When I measured again I'm finding the clearance is just over 7.75" and the CS2 height is 7.75". I have a 61" DLP atop the stand and I'm afraid if I get the CS2 in there is will be very snug with the top just about resting on top of the CS2. Would this effect the sound in anyway if the center was basically enclosed top and bottom with the stand? Also the port in the back would be about 2" from the back of the cabinent, would that matter?
