falcon377 doesn't have many posts on the Club Polk Forum. Esavinon is well known for his Polk adventures and is our resident SRT expert. I'd like to share a little story and reconize both the gentlment who helped me with a project.
Falcon377 is local to me and we are friendly in the local audio world. He is a fan of vintage gear as I am. I just wanted to share some recognition for Mike. He did an absolutely fantastic job restoring a McIntosh MX-113. This tuner/preamp combo is an excellent unit. It has the same tuner section as the MR-74 and the preamp section of a C-26.
Here's the story, (Esavinon) found the MX-113 on a curb in NYC. Ed is an EMT in NYC and was racing to a distress call in his ambulance when he spotted the Mac and a Sony receiver sitting on the curb. Ed said $h*t! as he could not stop to pick it up. On his return, he saw that the Sony receiver was gone but there was the Mac sitting on the curb in the middle of New York City.
The Mac was filthy and he didn't know if it worked or not. He sent it to me and I never got around to plugging it in, yet alone cleaning and trouble shooting. Wind the clock forward about one year and I asked Mike to take a look at it. Mile meticulously cleaned, checked out all the functions did some repairs and it's up and running and sounding great.
Mike, you did a great job! I had a brief visit yesterday with Mike yesterday at his house. His son Mikey was there (he's a budding audiophile), his lovely wife and cute little daughter. Mike's system was sounding great with the Mac and I hated to leave with it as everything was sounding so good. Anyways, how about a few pictures?? Enjoy! Hat's off to Mike and Ed!!

Way to go guys. Nice tuner and nice clean up job.
Ed, don't you find it ironic and kinda idiotic that someone would take the Sony and leave the Mac? -

I'm not really surprised. There are very few people outside these forums that know about audio gear.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!

the first post is way too confusing.
i don't know how Ed had anything to do with the story except it was him who found the Mac but ended up not using it. Did he sell it or give it away or throw it out, it was not specified.
Mike did not find the Mac but miraculously ended up cleaning it up and using it.
OP did nothing. Just holding onto the Mac for a year. No cleaning no plugging in. But still visit Mike's house for a meal. Whats the significance of your role?Onkyo 805, RtiA5s, Csi5, Rti6s -

Sorry to hear your confused. Ed sent the Mac to me, I left the Mac sit because I didn't have time to work on it. Gave it to Mike. Mike fixed it. I went to Mike's house to pick it up. I had a nice time with Mike and his family.
