First Impressions SVS pc ultra-13

I'm using it for music only in my 2 ch rig. It reminds me a lot of the velodyne servo 12 I had. Most music I listen to has little or no content @20 hz.But when it's there this guy does a good job. Some reviews state the driver has 2 inch peak to peak travel. So far at the level I'm playing it I doubt it's moved more than a quarter inch and it rattles the walls.I will say though my 2 paradigm ps 1000 subs have more presence of sound but they dont reach the depth of the SVS.I'll post again when I have more time to experiment.

I know I'm not going to use this sub anywhere it's potential(with the music I play)but I'm real proud of it and glad I got one.

I would consider that SVS more of a HT sub rather than a sealed, tight, fast musical sub.
Did you try running it in sealed mode?

It's a bottom feeder that's for sure , music cd's dont exercise it much but it fills in the bottom nicely(when called for)Still getting familiar with it and have not tried sealing any ports yet.I can turn it way up where it pounds but I consider that as abusing it.

Playing around with sub now I see/hear what it can do.I'm still no where reaching it's capabilities, but it's a monster!More than I'll ever need or use. What a fine machine.Same size as my HOT WATER TANK!!!!!

I've got mine sealed up and using it in my HT as well. It is extremely musical this way. I have also set my speakers to large now with the sub sealed and it is blowing me away. I set the crossover at 80 hz to start and I'm pretty satisfied. I really don't know if I've got it dialed. I can say it allows for a lot of adjustment beyond my skills. Keep posting your finds I would be interested to know what settings are making the most impression on you.

    Have fun, eh!
