Good bye Charter hello Direct TV!

So finally after all the problems I've had with Charter and the 3rd month in a row that my bill changed amounts even though I was promised it wouldn't, I decided to switch. Normally Charter was around 110.00 a month for internet and cable with 1 HD Box. Internet I was getting 6 MB download speed, for the most part. With Direct and AT&T package I'm getting it will be around 75-80.00. Including 2 HD boxes, one being a DVR unit, a LOT better service (IMO) compared to charters crappy customer service, no install costs that I had with charter, and better HD channels. Also my internet speed would stay the same. I went from 50 HD channels with charter to about 225. not a bad move I think. Saving 420.00 a year so for me thats a new something audio related haha!
Any one else move to Direct TV and enjoy the upgrade? I heard a lot of good things from people locally just looking for others out there.
BTW its either Dish Network, Charter (like comcast kinda) and Direct TV.

I have direcTV and am amazed when I go to my girlfriend's house or my bestfriend's, they both have comcast. First the HD picture is better IMO and then having the SD and HD channel for the same channel 200+ channels apart is completely crazy once you've used Directv. Most people think that satelite TV always goes out. Mine goes out once maybe twice a year and usually can still get SD channels in.

I had directv, then dumped them for comcast REAL fast. It's a personal choice."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. I've been happy with DirecTV for ten years now, no looking back to cable. Basic + HBO, 3 HD DVRs, $105I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Don't have any TV service, but AT&T's internet service is stellar, imo. (Time Warner being my comparison) And they do offer some really nice bundles deals, based on what they've tried to upsell me to on the phone.

Something is not right. I have 1 HD-DVR, 3 HD tuners and 1 SD tuner, all channels and protection plan for $160. Been with them over 10 years, no promo price here.
FIOS has the highest HD scan rate but they will have to ditch the Motorola DVR before I switch. The best things about Direct's HD-DVR is you can add an external SATA drive or swap the inernal drive. I have 100 hours of HD storage and usualy stays 70% full.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

I don't know how much I'm paying for Directv anymore, but when I switched, they kicked butt on Comcast.
I've been with Directv for 10 yrs now and I don't have any plans on going back.My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself. -
Charter needs to take notes from Polk Audio in relation to customer service.
Charter is horrendous. -
I got put into a promo plan for 12 months at a fixed rate of 50.00. I guess It is normally 56.00 but they gave me a credit for whatever reason. The "normal" price of everything I would have per month would be 86.00 including the HD boxes and everything.
So after the 12 months is up it will go to the 86.00 but then again I'm not sure where I'll be in 12 months so not a big deal. I just had to get rid of charter. They were pissing me off big time.
For example I went a month without internet. I knew it was a problem on their end because my modem would have the "ready" light blink in and out for hours then shut off completely. No matter what you did it would do this. Well they sent a tech out after the first time I complained. He stated it was something happening to everyone in my area as it was due to charter chaning over their servers and there was nothing I could do about it. He even wrote this in a letter for me so that I had proof of what he said. Well I called charter to complain and didn't feel it was fair for me to pay for a months worth of internet and not even have it work. They then tried to send another tech out (same one) and charge me for it because it "had to be a user error" well after a few phone calls later and serval sups with the letter they finally gave me my money for the month.
Oh and the best part. When I start any account any where I always send in writting to the company I do not want calls for sales. Period, nada none what so ever. I did this with charter before and it worked when I was in college. Then when I moved I did it again. As well as called and did their opt out.
Well 4 months of having their service, I get called. One time it was 9 times that day. So that was pretty much the final straw. I sent in a couple of complaints with the BBB and told charter this a few times and they finally removed me after a month of calls. -

I have the same deal and been with them almost 10 years too. I call about twice a year and typically get free programming or equipment upgrades for nothing. I have 3 HD DVRs all networked together plus another 2 boxes and couldnt be happier.
Right now if you add or already have HBO they will give you 3 months of Starz for free.
