Perhaps biamping would be the better way to go. I know when I biamp'd my 1.2TLs it brought the depth/separation/detail/bass response up to whole other level.

I was thinking about that, but is that possible with only one set of binding posts? Some of the Amazings have 2 pairs of posts... mine only has one pair however

I don't know the answer to that one, perhaps you should put forth that question on the Carver Forum.

Hold on... I thought the plats had 2..... Are you sure they are not originals, If they have a 60" ribbon instead of 2 x 30", but only 1 set of binding,,, it might have been an original converted to plats....

Depends on which Plats. Some did, some didn't.

They are originals converted to Plats if the woofers are the FLAT type (versus regular cone).

i bought these from Shizelbz and i think he had a discussion with the forum too about what they were exactly. 60" ribbon, 4 cone woofers, one set of binding posts, pretty sure they are plats and thats what Shizelbz said too

The Platinum's have two sets of binding posts, but no trim pots. The Platinum Mk IV has one set and has trim pots.

    Jason,

My post was meant to simply clarify, nothing more.

You asked what speakers I thought would be better for the types of music you listen to and my answer would be SDA's except it's against the law to play hip-hop on them.

if I had two tfm's I would be bridging them, never mind the peanut gallery...........lets fact it, you nor anybody else is going to know how you like it till you try it...........amps are like women, they're all good, especially on the inside, some though are just sweeter than a honey bee on a suckle rose.

two RT1 demerits for eng and his hip hop bee bop cant stop makes my ears go pop doing the club polk rock.

Peanut Gallery Gestapo!!!:p I have to agree though, just because I had a bad experience with bridging amps doesn't mean I'm telling him not to try it. I should have made that clear.

I probably will try it, its just lower on the priority scale now since many have said I probably won't get what I hoped out of the bridging. I'm gonna sneak some hip-hop into one of these Polkfests someday! hahahaha

I used to bridge some NAD 2700 power envelopes with a set of 1C's, I had my fun with it for a while then moved on to the silver 9t's.

You have to try stuff to get to know stuff.
