make great starter fuel for a bonfire;):p...
I have no idea what they are worth but I can say when I heard them a while ago, I was unimpressed. It does look like you paid the right price IMHO.The Gear... hook them up
put 'em thru testing and evaluation
what do you listen to regularly for comparison.....
give us a critique ! -
They're worth 40.00/50 pr. and if the woofers are original, you'll have to re-foam the surrounds or put new woofers from Parts express in em and enjoy.
They're all right in a big room.
Cool end table looks are great in a retro room! Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
thats funny. i said the same thing lol. if nothing else well have a bonfire haha. i havent seen them yet ill see them in the am but my buddy said they look great. either way the price was definitly right. i have a pair fo 11t and 1c plus a cs350 to compare. also a set of 12 tl cerwins and a set of kx 12 dcm/transitional time window. if ther cabinets are solid ill entertain good replacement drivers and give them to the mother inlaw. kinder gentler is relative to how many word you want to eat should ther ever be a crossing in real life haha. well thanks guys ill send a full report in the next few days.

Actually the 1st and 2nd series 501's didnt sound that bad with Bose EQ that was with them.
I think the 501's and a 10" woofer in them but later on became the slim looking ones.
I think it was the 601 that had 2 X 8" woofers in them they also didnt sound that bad.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's. -
well i got them and id say 8 of 10 on cosmetics. meaning you could have them in dim light and they would look like 9.5s if that makes sense. one wierd thing i found, based on the responses... the woofers are like new in appearence and feel of the cone and surround. however, all woofers are blown and id say in the voice coil. the glass fuses are shot. the tweets sound good but hard to tell with out any mid range they blare for sure. the glass and disc caps got hot enough to cook the insulation and im supprised there wasnt a fire haha. id like to rebuild the woofer voice coils and install a 7b crossover but i think id be better served buying new woofers and replacing the fuses/disc caps. the mom in law will think they are great as she enjoys low level listening and the 4 of them will do well in her tv room. all in all not bad for free and i think they will make a nice gift.

So post a link to the youtube video of the bonfire when it happens, mmmkay?
Seriously, are the woofers free, or locked in place? Any give at all? Replace fuses and give it a once over, pull a woof out, check the leads, make sure everything is where it should be.
They will make a nice gift, just take the cheapest route possible to repair - you might want to pick the best looking / performing pair of the lot, part out the other pair to fund your project. An old broad doesn't need 4 speakers, unless she's short on coffee tables, or hosts a weekly bridge club.

heres a couple of pics. the grilles are rough and tacked in place so ill get creative when its time to replace them. the drivers as you can see are like new. they travel the same distance between them selves and dont feel rough. its kind of wierd to me actually. they look ,smell and feel good but wont play with a direct sourceahh well. i did notice a bit of degradation through the dust cover on one of the voice coils and 3 of the 4 glass fuses are done. hot to a point they melted the fiberglass around them but only on the low side. all tweets work fine. there are disk caps on the low side that are crispy as well. i have a plethera of disk caps for my ham radio projects and figured id replace them and put in some of those ma audio 10 inch subs. (i love the performance of my dvc ma audio 15 inch) i did look at the parts express paper cone but figured the sealed paper and stiffer rubber long throw surround would be a better replacement. for 8 dollars more free shipping from thedeepdiscount ill chance it. i would put polk 10s in if anybody had 4 lying around and wanted to put them at my door for 88.00 but i seriously doubt it haha. if they do go to the death by fire i will certainly capture a full biased video and post it to utube! lol... hotdogs, marshmallows, a gallon of gas, molitov cocktail and all haha. all that said i think they are worth putting a few drivers in and giving a go. 2 pairs of series 4 501s for free deserve at least a good go at them i think. i was thinking stack them and have 2 on each channel for an experiment if nothing else. also they are short enough they will fit well in my attic corners (and rebuild the mominlaws 12 rt cv's for her to use) and not take any useable space.
p.s. funy thing ...my mother in law is 3 months older than my sister so she still gets down! in fact she has a vinyl collection counted in the thous' so i bet shed really like all four. it would also give me a reason to abscond with the 12rt's in the corner haha. -

Anything designed by Carver DIGITAL would have become EMO later on, as the owner of Emo had a big hand in creating them. Sunfire amps are Bob's very own. After Bob sold Sunfire, Sunfire licensed their preamp model TGP-4 and possibly the TGP-3 to Emo as well. There is some linkage there to be sure, but the Cinema series amps and the Stereo amps stand on their own.;):)The Gear...
