I just bought a new psw505. I`m trying different settings to try and get the best bass management and sound. I`ve seen several post about acoustic panels. Going that route can get expensive and i would perfer to upgrade my avr and tv .I`ve seen some panels at sams that aRE 1" thick , a set of 4,
24x40x1 would only cost 130. Does anyone have option would i be wasting my money? Would 1" thick make any difference?
If i did buy these i would put them behind my sub and fronts. Thanks in advance for any responce`s..

I do not really have an opinion on the acoustic panels but am interested in a discussion about them. I will also be in the market for some of them later this year. I too have noticed that tey can get pretty expensive. I have seen some DIY options out there that are a lot cheaper. Hopefully someone else will chime in and enlighten both of us.Front - RTiA5's
Rear - RTiA3's
Center - CSiA4
Sub - PSW110 -
That thickness is nearly useless for a sub. Any reasonable thickness is pretty much useless for subs.
However, I say go for it. The improvement in everything aspect except the sub will make you a believer in sound treatment. -
Take a look at these guys.
I plan on using their stuff in my room. Their prices aren't bad from what I've seen compared to others and they are located in Michigan.
I'm not expert but I'd still think you would be in need of bass traps and not just panels behind the sub.

Ok, Now i have more questions. Are acustic panels and acustic foam do the same job. Thanks bsturgeon89 for the link. The foam does look cool, and its price is less. Will it do the same job.Marantz SR 7007

If your really looking to improve the sound of your sub. Using a parametric eq will probably achieve the results you want and be the most practical.
The Velodyne SMS-1 can be purchased for around 375. Which will show you real time results on your tv. It's very flexible and easy to use. -
