Cooling Rack?

No, I am not talking about cookies
Has anyone ever made a cooling rack for their components? My receiver sits inside of a cabinet with my blu ray player sitting right on top of it. There is no air flow in this cabinet, and only about an eighth of an inch between the top of the receiver and the bottom of the blu ray player.... it doesn't take that much brain power to see that for one, the receiver is not breathing properly and two, all of the heat from the receiver is going right into the bottom of the blu ray player. I elevated the blu ray a few days after setting it up (just used part of a box for now) because I stuck a thermometer between the two and it went up to about 130 degrees (not touching any metal, just the air temp), and was still climbing.
So since then I have been looking around at everything trying to decide what I want to use / make that would be the most beneficial. The thing that keeps popping in my head is to make a rack or shelf that separates the two (it might have legs to sit on the receiver, or be larger so the receiver fits under it), but fit a fan or two in it to create air flow... like the pc fans, or laptop cooling devices.
Has anyone done anything like that, is it overkill to have fans, am I over thinking it... again?
Oh, the other thing I was thinking was that I could mount a fan or two on the back of the cabinet itself and create the airflow that way (still have a shelf or something in between the components.
Man, I talk too much
