Advice on Center Channel and Front L/R

Good evening, I am a new member here and need your advice.

My current home theater setup includes the following:

Onkyo 607 Receiver
RM 8 - Center Channel
RM 8 Front L/R
RM 7 Surrounds
Velodyne Impact 12 Sub

I love my system and have no complaints. However, a friend is downsizing his life and is selling off a pair of Monitor 50's for a low-low price. My question is whether the Monitors will pair up well with the RM 8 center channel. I know it is a small center channel, but I really have very little space in my media center to get a bigger one and I like how it sounds too so, I don't want to change my center channel.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you,

- Sam

Any chance your friend will let you hook them up with your gear to see what you think? You say you are very happy with your set up, that's the key. My opinion is really not of much value for what you will hear and like or dislike, but since you are asking I would say unless you are ready to start traveling the upgrade path you are probably better off sticking with what you have.

On the other hand, if they are really at a low-low price why not just grab 'em and if you don't like them it should be easy to sell them without taking a loss.:D

General rule of thumb is to match the L,C & R (timbre matching) by sticking within the same model lineup. Not saying its not done though.

I agree with apphd--see if your friend will let you try before you buy first. Keep in mind though, that you should recalibrate your AVR and SUB to account for the new L&R before you can make a fair comparison or at least set your AVR's L&R to Full Range and run w/o the sub for a quick test.
Any if they truly are low low price--you could always use them in the bedroom or something :).
