Upgraded IC's in conjunction w/adapters

I upgraded my RCA IC's from the stock ones to some MIT AVT3's.
They're kina stiff and won't fully conform to the space in my cabinet, so I ran into a small dilema. Either: remove a small back panel in my cabinet to accomotate the MIT's or get some RCA elbow adapters.
I decided to go ahead and remove the panel, so as to avoid the elbow adapters, but that left me wondering: Would the adapters actually cause some degradation in sound? Would they defeat the purpose of getting some higher quality IC's?
I mean, even the Audioquest RCA elbows are only like $5 a piece; doesn't seem like there's much in the way of quality that could be put into these adapters to mitigate any sound degradation.
Am I way off base here??
Thanx guys.

IMO, yes, but I also would suggest that you call MIT and ask them.Political Correctness'.........defined

I've been wondering the same thing about Y adapters.. my Carver TFM-42 recommends using a Y-adapter when using it Mono.. I haven't done this yet, but was thinking the same thing

I'll take your word for it. Besides, I already decided to removed the panel to avoid the elbows.
I use to install high-end car stereos. I just didn't want to erroneously extrapolate data, but the fewer connections between units, the better; especially "adapters".
Just thought I'd double check.
Thank you for your courteous reply and suggestion.A/V Proc: UMC-1
