So I'm trying to heelp a friend install some speakers in his '02 Silverado, and have a question. we're installing a component speaker set with driver, tweeter, and a crossover. The speakers already in there are component as well, but I'm having a hard time finding the crossover.
There is wiring going to the tweeter and driver separately, but I'm not finding a crossover unit anywhere.
Help!

There is no crossover. The tweeter has a cap on it and thats it. Both wires coming in from the cab, the tweeter wire and the woofer wire is the same wire. If you go to the kickpanel area you can find where they split. I usually put the new crossover at this point. On the driver side pull the fuse access cover off and you will see the plug where the wires split. You can extend these wires about 8 inchs and place the new crossover above the fuse box.

So, if I didn't want to pull the kick panel area apart, could I just use the wire going to the woofer, mount the crossover there and then split, basically do what DSkip is saying?

You could, but its not recommended. Those doors leak like niagra falls.

So you're saying mount the crossover in the kick panels on each side?

How about this? Works fine for me in the middle:
Pioneer P88RS-II | Polk Audio SR5250 | JL Audio 12w6v2 | 2x Genesis 3 Stereo 100 | Genesis 3 Monoblock -
How large is the crossover?
