Ok, with my setup below, I am wanting to replace the two front rm sattelites with either the tsi's or the 50s. I know that there are bigger and better speakers out there, but that is all I want. What do you guys think? How would the center channel hold up if I added either of these?

I think you'd notice a bigger improvement upgrading all three (fronts and center) at once. I bought some Monitor 50's, and a CS1 for my parents on Craigslist for $180. The deals are out there. As most everyone will say on this forum, having the front three speakers timbre matched is the most ideal way to go.

If you are wondering what the sound differance is between the TSi line and the Monitors, extremely slight. If you A/Bed them side by side, you might notice the differance. For the price differance however, go with the Monitor 50s. Newegg has amazing deals on them.

The TSI-300s have a bit more bass...something to think about. I would also get the matching center whatever you do....a satellite center is not going to keep up with a set of real towers and it carries a lot of the surround info.

    Good luck..

+1, I have done a side by side with my Monitor 70's and TSi 500's, and there wasn't a slap you in the face difference with them at all. Having said that I did prefer the Monitor 70's for HT while the TSi 500's seemed to do a little beter with music. For the prices the Monitors can be had these days, they are hard to beat. If you get the Monitors, get the CS1 or 2, if you get the TSi's, get the CS10/20. Timbre matching the front three is very important, and I didn't like the way my CS2 and TSi 500's clashed, so I kept the 70's up front and put the 500's as surrounds.

Hmmm....interesting...I suppose I have to disagree with that..

I'm pretty much in agreement with upstatemax's comparison of the M70s and the TSI-500s on the same equipment. I find the 500s a bit less musical with a noticeably narrower sound stage and less imaging than the Ms.

But hey, we all have different 'ears'. I also have some TSI-300s that are good and you'd think smaller speakers might image better than the larger M70s but they don't.

I feel ya C, the differences between the two were minimal, and IMHO not worth the difference in price, that's for sure. I think now that I own them, and have had time to "warm up to them" they have grown on me. The 70's are hands down the better speaker, and for what they can be had for these days, get outta heree, lol.
