Watched Precious tonight.. ok movie.. shout outs go to the actress that portrayed Precious, Mo'nique was pretty amazing, as was Mariah Carey.

i wasn't quite prepared for the gritty adult topics of the movie.. it's in your face rough language.

I hated the ending though. The ending was so bad. Because the ending was so poor, I didn't enjoy the movie. Sad, because it's a good film, but the ending really fell flat.

Mariah Carey looked terrible. The movie was good overall but I'm not adding it to the collection. I'm more of a action drama guy.

she was suppose to look terrible. not sure if you got to watch the extras on the dvd.. but the director told her not to wear any makeup. she tried to sneak some make up on, and the director scolded her and made her remove it.

he wanted a gorgeous woman like Mariah to look like a real person who would be a social worker, not a big Vegas showgirl. it worked. I thought Mariah did a admirable job.

Agreed with pretty much all of it, though I didn't think the ending was bad; it was real, just like the movie. Hard to watch, but that doesn't mean bad.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I thought it was a very well directed and acted movie, but not "feel good" subject matter by any stretch of the imagination. It is not too far fetched though, as there is a reality out there just like this story portrays rooted in generations of abuse. Someone told me that Lenny Kravitz played the nurse tech in the film that kept giving her money (didn't understand that one), I totally didn't recognize him.

Just watched this. Thought it was excellent...though its a case of apples and oranges, I thought neither District 9, The Hurt Locker, nor Up in the Air (other recent films I've seen) could hold a candle to this one. They all seemed like dramatized Hollywood productions, whereas this was a slice of life...

I actually felt the "ending" was very appropriate, because in fact there was no ending...we're just led to believe that she'll continue to press on and strive, though in the face of pretty daunting circumstances which is just what life would be like for someone with such a background. So I thought it left us off, so to speak, just as it should. As someone mentioned, its like many foreign films in that there is no neat conclusion because thats not really how life is.
