Hey,

Brand new to posting on the forums, I've been pretty much lurking the entire time. I've seen a couple of forum posts about the TSI series speakers, but i couldnt really find anything on particular mixes i was thinking of.

I'm upgrading from a set of the klipsch quintets which I pretty much can't stand anymore (It was a first set up for me) and going to the polk TSI series as I have a chance to get some of their stuff at a good price.

I was thinking of getting the CS20 center channel, the TSI 200 bookshelves, and TSI 300 front speakers, keeping my klipsch sub 10. I was wondering if the TSI 300's would be a weak part of the set up with the cs20 in the middle, or if it doesn't really matter. Should i consider upgrading to the 400's, and would it make a big difference? Size isn't much of an issue, just trying to cut cost where i can.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as i'm sure this topic has been completely exhausted. Thank you.

Welcome to Club Polk! Sounds like you're on your way to having a great setup.

The TSi300's would match up just fine with the CS20. The center channel is a very crucial speaker, since it carries over 50% of a movies soundtrack...a bigger center channel is always a good idea, no matter what front speakers you're using. As far is the possibility of the CS20 overpowering the 300's...with a modern AVR's calibration abilities, that won't be a problem. You'll be able to individually adjust speaker levels, so that everything is balanced across the sound stage.

The TSi200's would also match up very well, and make excellent surrounds.

As far as upgrading to 400's goes...if you can afford it, you might want to consider it. The 300's are great speakers...the 400's are better, and the 500's are even better. Odds are you'd be more than happy with any of the three though.

You might also want to consider looking into the Monitor line. The Monitors were basically the predecessor of the TSi line, and are very close to one another. The Monitor 70's(which are the equivalent of the 500's) can be had for around $175 a lot of the time. The CS2(old version of CS20) can also be had for cheap.

What are you going to be powering it all with?
    The nirvana inducer-
    APC H10 Power Conditioner
    Marantz UD5005 universal player
    Parasound Halo P5 preamp
    Parasound HCA-1200II power amp
    PolkAudio LSi9's/PolkAudio SDA 2A's/PolkAudio Monitor 7A's
    Audioquest Speaker Cables and IC's

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I have a Pioneer VSX1016 which i was maybe considering upgrading too, but seems to do the job so I'm not sure.

I think I'll definitley go with the 200's and the cs20, just gotta consider maybe upgrading the 300's or checking out some of the ones you mentioned.

I do a little bit of movie watching, but was thinking of using this for video games and music mostly. Does that make a difference in which speakers to choose at all?

    WELCOME TO CLUB POLK!

+1, Curt has covered all the basics...now it's time to decide what AVR you'll be using? May I suggest an Onkyo 707/807 or Pioneer VSX-21/23 or Pioneer 9040....listen to both...(you might like the Pioneer better).

Thanks for the welcome, cnh and curt.

Is the receiver i listed not going to cut it potentially? Also, there's a yamaha accomodation through my work, was wondering if any of their receivers would do an admiral job or should i be looking towards Onkyo and Pioneer if i decide i'm upgrading?

    Thanks again.
