They are not even on the same level as your SDA's. That would be a downgrade.

Studio Monitor series, nothing worth even looking at, much less listening to.

I used to sell those in a mass market department store (we did have a nice audio dept., nothing high end) they blow chunks!! Not even sexy, well maybe sexy for firewood. This was back in late 80's when I worked at the store.

I used to have a set, horrible speakers, but the Kappa 8.1's I had were great.

Pics are on differnent days???? Weird. Plus the woofer looks alot more shinny on the one on the right. Doubt that the flash caused that. Looks like a replacement driver.

I own several pairs of vintage Infinity's, and...

ditto what everyone else said. They're no comparison to the RS's and Kappa's.

I have Infinity SL20s and SL50s that I will not part with. I know this is a Polk site but, Infinity had some pretty nice stuff in the late 80s to early 90s.

I remember those, he says, recalling the Kappa 'envy' of his youth--the poor graduate student who lived on canned peas and tuna!

    Kappa 9's $650 Minneapolis Craigslist

I've been itching for a reason to pick these up... Too many other speakers around the house and I don't think I've got the juice for these either. Pretty damn good price if they are as clean as the ad claims.

The Infinity "SM" series was designed for children. Big children, but children none the less.

I am just curious why you say that. I am not doubting you. The last time I listened to them was about 15 years ago. My memory is probably a little distorted. We just all thought they were "the bomb-diggity" back then.

On a side note, I have some SL20s and SL50s that, in my opinion, sound "better" than most the stuff out there that is less than $1,000 a pair. The monitors I have are just a little better in the HF region.

Indeed, they were terrible back then too. They were terrible close to 20 years ago when they were introduced, so this is not a new phenomenon.

Hi dc55110 I have a White Audio Labs b1 amp and have no info or specs on it... do you have any specs or ratings or manual or schematics--mode of operation info? I can find very little on the web...

Thank you very much in advance,

    David.

I am a big fan of the Kappa series, especially the Kappa 9's. Never heard em but they look just AWESOME!

You can say what you want. But Infinity had that 50K reference system back then and it was "spectacular"! Had multiple columns and separate ribbon and woofer cabs like those above (IRS Beta). Well worth listening to and owning. But who had that kind of money then, now?

The IRS Beta I listened to belonged to an oral surgeon and cost ~ $15K in 1989. I paid $2,750 for the 1.2s in 1988. The IRS was indeed that much better with $10K of electronics pushing it.
