This guy is selling these towers locally but is unable to tell me the model number. He wants 200 for the towers. I’m looking to use them in my bedroom wired through the Zone 2 on my Onkyo for 2-channel music.

Also I’m a little concerned about the distance that these would be wired which is about 50 feet. What do you think? Thanks.

If the $200 is just for the RT800i (without the CS245i or the subwoofer), then they would have to be pristine IMO to be worth that: no plucks, no snags, no broken pins, no scratches, no dented tweeters ... . Yes, I've seen them sell for more than that on eBay before, but craigslist pricing would be more like $100-200, depending on condition. $125-150 would be usual.

Although I quite like the RT series for music, I do think they are better suited for HT (hence "RT", or "Reference Theatre"). The original "RTxx(x)" and "RTxx(x)i" are reputedly less bright than the later RTi x(x), so they are preferred by some because of this (and it may make them a good match with Onkyo), but the tweeter could also be described by some as lacking in detail, for two channel music especially. I'm not sure how the most recent RTi Ax models compare.

I suppose it all depends on how demanding you are with this bedroom system as to whether these are a good choice or not. They are a very good speaker IMO, and they can perform very well when paired with the right stuff, but don't pay too much.
    Alea jacta est!

    Thanks fellas!
I think I'm going to pass on 'em.
Any suggestions for musical bookshelf speakers for 12'x16' bedroom?
Also does it make sense to run speaker wire 50' to my bedroom? I'm looking to use it mainly for music files and perhaps a cd.
    Thanks.

Had a pair of the RT800's for a month or two and they have a great sound when paired with a sub. If you can get them for $100 and they're in good shape, you'd be doing just fine.

If you want good musical bookshelf speakers for a bedroom, look for a pair of RT55's or if you have a more powerful amp, go for some LSi 7's or 9's.
