Chewing the Fat- LSI15 Drivers/Tweaks

I was hoping to remove the mid-bass drivers in the lsi's to dampen the baskets, Caig the connections, etc. The woofers came out no prob (next time they come out in go the db840s Anyway, the smaller drivers seemed glued in. I didnt go as far as tipping the speaker over or anything, but gently prying (more like a concentrated nudge, really) wouldnt even budge them. Are they glued in in anyway?? Any tips to remove them? Also, I noticed the cabinet is completely stuffed with speaker filler, is this normal?
Hopefully all the LSI tweakers come out of the wood work, willing to impart a young buck some wisdom Plenty more questions where these came from

What brand caps have you used in the past?? I realize one can spend alot of money in this respect....
Recently I purchased a large amount of dynamat like stuff for less than 20 bucks shipped. I have done the chassis of all my components, caps, etc. At that low price I figured it cant hurt. Stiffening the basket cant hurt (from a physics stand point) I appreciate any info you have regarding crossovers, I have been looking into that area, but right now its a bit cost prohibitive to get the results I would want, or so i think......

Does your Yamaha have pre-outs ??? An external amp would do wonders as well. They are a 4 ohm speaker that AVR's have a difficult time powering.
+1 on the crossovers. McLoki provided links to some of the best guys in the business.
No there not glued in but need some help to get them out.
The filler is normal. -
I just took my own suggestion and hooked my 15's up to a pre-power combo that has a 4 ohm option. For some unknown reason I have never done this before.
Man what a difference.
It's like a proud father watching his boy hit a homerun. I'm proud of my 15's now.
They aren't SDA's, but I was very surprised by the sound.
That a boy' -
I have a B&K ST1400 II in for repair. THe yamaha does not have the balls to drive these LSI's (even bi-amped the sound thin....). I read the threads regarding the crossover upgrades, but I noticed sonic caps are recommended. As this is out of my price range I won't be travelling down that road yet..... The biggest smile will come when I am running those babies with a decent power amp, the yamaha should make a fine pre. Has anybody sound dampened that lovely cardboard tube that is serving as a port for the sub????
