Just wondering if anyone here has any experience, good or bad, with either or both of these receivers.

(I have a $300 credit from C City due to a 3rd need for repair =lemom law.)

These are really the only brands they carry that would fit my price range, about $1,000 (-the credit)

Any thought ,help, experience on both or either would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,brentski

(wish I would have caught that Denon 3803 for $675)

I have had a LOT of listening time to both of these recievers(I used to work at CC). In addition, We actually have both a new Onkyo and a new H/K in our house. The most important thing I can tell you is to get lots of listening time in, and decide which YOU like better. Don't be pressured by the salesman, go kick it in the sound room and A/B the two recievers with whatever speakers you want to run, and listen untill you can hear a difference.

As far as my opinion goes, I'm a big Onkyo fan, I have the 898 and I LOVE it. However I have only good things to say about the H/K. I can notice a distinct difference in sound between the two, to sum it up in just a few words, the H/K sounds heavier (more low end/bass) and the Onkyo sounds smoother and more spaced(better treble). But those few words don't do much justice, so go listen!

    Hope that helps,

Out of those two, I would probably choose the Onkyo.

As mentioned above, listen to both and decide for yourself.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
