Help,

I'm looking for a preamp to sit between my squeeebox duet and my Adcom GFA-555. I dont have a need for phono and the SQB is my only source. I'm outputing to sda 1c's.

Does anyone have suggestions or possibly something to sell?

Thanks in advance.

David

If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

Not to jack this thread, but how about under $500 and in tube or SS?

Ben, you still got those chickens?

Thanks Ben and Leroy. Parasound looks like a nice device with good circuitry and an Adcom might have good synergy with the 555. I'll try my luck with CL and the for sale forum here.

No problem on th HJ Hill. I'll have to upgrade sometime.

    On to the hunt.

    Thanks guys!

Sometimes you can find B&K Reference 10's or 20's for decent prices on Ebay. Just put them in stereo mode and they make a great sounding pre.

Do you need an active preamp or just an attenuator and/or switch?

If a passive attenutor/switchbox is all you need...

Get the Carver CT-28v, which is currently in the flea market. That's a bargain and an awesome preamp. It handles 2-channel duties very well, plus it comes with the remote.
I used to have 1, and the only reason I sold it is because I was using my Carve C-1 more than CT-28v.

You might want to consider an Acurus L10. It's got pretty high build quality and great sound. It also uses fairly high end components, considering it can be had for around $125.

I'm using one with an Adcom GFA-545 driving a pair of SDA 2A's...and it sounds fantastic. It made for a VERY big improvement over the Onkyo 606 I'd been using before that.
