I've been trying to figure out what speakers are in this Avalon and can't find it anywhere. I can't remove the covers on the speakers as it is part of the door. Does anyone know a way to find out ? I've checked the manual and google. They sound surprisingly good for the record.

Try crutchfield.com They used to have a guide that would tell you what car has what speakers. Some of the other better online Auto electronic web sites also have a vehicle speaker application guide.

    Best of luck,

You are probably looking at 6.5 in speakers in the front and rear doors. According to AllDATA these are your typical Toyota made speakers with adaptors built on to the speaker or rather part of the speaker. What that means is no speaker is going to drop right in you will need to make spacers, probably 3/4", to accommodate a 6.5 or 5.25 inch speakers. If it was my car I would pull the factory speaker from one of the front doors and one of the rear doors just to make sure.

The thing is i'm not planning on replacing the speakers they sound really good, what i'm thinking is because I bought the car used the previous owner might have upgraded the system. That or I just have really bad ears and think factory speakers are good sounding :)

So what exactly are you asking? If they're aftermarket or stock? Generally you can hold a light to the grill and see inside. If its stock, its going to be a plain black cone.

Ok well I tried to peek in with a flashlight, from what I saw even though it was difficult to see. It seemed to be shiny or reflective almost sparklie. No writing or anything else.

Plus I think they're oval and silver with a two black drips from the center.

The Avalon has 3 stock choices, standard, JBL, and JBL w/navigation. It is possible that you have a JBL system in there. Did you try to find sizes here?

Your probably not going to be able to tell on that car unless you remove a door panel..
