Setting an old turntable which is like new from my old Marantz I bought 30 years ago. I just ordered a new belt and it still has its old Empire 400 XL cartridge and stylis. I am using a new Pioneer 1019 for the Reciever. What if any cartrige should I buy to compliment my old records. Strickly 33 1/3 and 45's.
Using Monitor 60 / 50 / 40 / CS2 / PSW 125 for speakers. Thanks

You're aware the 1019 doesn't have a phono input, right? -
The Pioneer 1019 does have 5 stereo audio only inputs I can use for a Turn table. 2 of them should work for any analog input.

I don't think thats gonna work. You'll need a phono pre-amp unless your TT has a built in one. -
Most modern receivers don't have a phono input stage. The signal coming off a turntable is so low it needs extra gain to have a reasonably high output from an amp or receiver otherwise you will only hear a faint signal. Also a phono input provides RIAA equalization to the signal which is a standard developed for 45 and 33 1/3 records. You will definatley need a seperate phono stage to fully enjoy those records and that turntable.

Thank you. I was waiting for someone who knew WTH they were talking about to chime in. I had the concept but wasn't sure of the details... -
Can I use my old Marantz Reciever for the stage and shoot it over to the Pioneer. This is new to me so please be patient

Take a look at this inexpensive phono pre. It's decent for the price.

You may be able to if the Marantz has pre-outs. Many older receivers did. Which Marantz model is your receiver? By the way I have an old Marantz 6300 turntable on my bedroom rig that sounds great.SDA-1C (full mods)
