My setup:

Front L/R : Monitor 70
AVR: yamaha 765
external amp: Adcom GFA 555
Sub : SVS PB 10

What's the best way to hook them up in order to achieve best sound possible?

Here is what i am currently running:

Front speaker out from AVR to the Monitor 70 high

Preout from AVR to Adcom using analog RCA IC.

Speaker out from Adcom to Monitor 70 low

All jumpers revoved.
Sub out from AVR to SVS sub line in.

Crossover set at 80 in AVR.

Is that the right set up?

Please advise.

Many thanks,

I wouldn't bother Bi-amping those speakers with the gear you have listed. The GFA-555 is much more powerful than your AVR and will produce a much better sound. You can either bi-wire the Monitor 70's off of the 555, which I wouldn't recommend, or put the jumpers back on and power them with the Adcom solely. Give it a listen both ways though, everyone's tastes are different, thats just what I would do.

I agree. I was curious why you were using the adcom and the AVR to power the speakers. I would put the jumper back in and run them directly off the adcom. I am sure it will have a smoother sound running only from the amp.

Let us know what you think. It is really up to "your" ears to make the decision.

I just wanted to test the sound with different scenarios to see if there’s any improvement.
Actually I did try to hook up the speakers off of the Adcom but really didn’t notice any difference with just running the speakers off of the AVR.

Maybe I need to upgrade my speakers.

Upgrading the speakers is up to you, but you definately don't need to. The monitor 70's are very good performers especially considering that you can have them brand new for about $350. You should hear a substantial difference between the Adcom and the Yamaha AVR. The GFA-555 is rated at 200WPC and I believe your AVR is only 90WPC. Thats a huge difference. I noticed the difference immediately when I switched from my HK AVR354's (75WPC) amp section to my Carver 505 (80WPC). Power amps, especially good ones like your Acdom, are far and away better at driving speakers than even high end AVR's.
Are you using this rig for 2 channel music only? If so and if you have the money, maybe you should think about new speakers. The LSi series is fantastic for music and the vintage Monitors and SDA's may be even better. There's nothing wrong with your speakers, but there's no harm in trying new gear . .
