Rattle inside speaker

Moving my Monitor 40s around this morning, I noticed something that is bugging me. In both speakers, there seems to be something loose. It rattles around in there. If I turn the speakers upside down and then back again, it goes "tic" and then "tic" again. Does the crossover float inside them or is something afoot? With the exception of shipping, these have been babied!
Things are more like they are now than they ever will be!

    Odd that it's both speakers. The c/o's don't "float". Pull a driver and see what it is...

    It is a fairly audible "tic" like there is a marble in there. I will open them up tonight and see what I find.

    did you drop the little plastic plugs from the banana plugs in them? I did it on accident when i was trying to remove one from the a9's.......binding posts are directly over the port.

    My Monitor 5A's both had a bunch of pieces of glue rattling around inside from when they were manufactured. Or someone could have dropped something in your ports.

    OK, I pulled the bottom driver out of both my Monitor 40s. I found several things. First off, the thing rattling around in both were those light gray plugs that are used to secure the grills with! The things the grill pegs go into. LOL! Second, the white, cotton like sound deadoning material was only on the top and the bottom. The sides were totally bare! I bet filling them completely will make a difference on their sound!

    Just to get rid of some of the cabinet resonance. I hear this is a awesome fix on Infinity Primus speakers. They say to put "peel n stick" carpet pads on the inside as well. I will let you know.

    I was going to say it is most likely some glue residue that fell off inside.
