Hi
Been a while since I last posted...seems like I acquired 4 pairs of Polks many months ago and then they just worked great ! No questions needed...

But, I'm trying to ID these 10's. I was told they are 10A's. Can someone help out?

Those are early 10s. Made at latest mid 1980 but more then likely before that Serial numbers are probably in the 60,000 to 80000 range. I would bet 1978 to 1980. Check back of drivers for date. Mid 6500s and tweeter made in Denmark if marked 7514____ on back Keith

Ouch, I just put them back into place with an Onkyo TX-3000 ! I think as long as I know they're A's that's great for now.

As I indicated, what are the serial numbers and what does the label say on back.? What does the tweeter say on back?? Color?? shape of magnet housing? Very few As had the gray crap around the 6500s The 10A was the change over to the all black 6500s and the US made Peerless. There were crossovers with mixed parts. keith

I am pretty sure they are not As but knowing the stuff above would tell.

How are you deciding they are 10As?? There was a 10,10A and 10B

10 1977 to 1980 6500 and passive with the gray cardboard tweeter marked 7514___ made in Denmark. The front baffle switched from brown to black sometime in late 78 early 79 Some may be marked 10A but they are not The compnents are what matter.

10A around 1980-81 thu 83 6500 and passive are all black with no cardboard. Tweeters are US made Peerless marked 5514___. They can have a silver or gold back. Later 83 ones have a gold back with a dimple and sound different. Also the new cabinet design came in late 82 early 83. Grill was shorter.

    Early 10B 1984 1985 6500s or 6501s (6600 possible) with Sl1000 silver faced tweeter..

    Late 10B 1986-87 6501s or 6600s with SL2000 tweeters ,Cabinet change again.

Those are 10s. Cardboard fibre gaskets on MWs and Passive, Peerless. Could be "A" models but most likely 10s. Preferred models. Nice!
