Amplifier for Polk Atrium 45

I have a pair of Polk Atrium 45 speakers and I need a car amp for them. I use the speakers on the rear of my truck for tailgating.

I am currently using an MTX Audio Thunder 152 and for a while it was working fine but, the speakers have started to cut out intermittently and I was told that I need a new/better amp.

I don't really have any idea how these systems work. What kind of amp should I get?

Is the amp shutting down or going into protect when the speakers cut out?

Granted I don't know much about how it works but it appears to be going into protect because it doesn't turn off.

I would start by checking the speaker wires for nicks that could ground out on the vehicles metal surfaces. Also check for stray strands of wire making contact with each other,the amp or the vehicle. If all of that checks out follow the ground wire (usually black, and hooked to the terminal usually labeled GND on the amp)follow that to the end and check that the connection is tight, and free of corrosion. If it is corroded you can clean it up with a wire brush. Unhook the wire the metal under the end of the wire should also be clean and bare metal. If you have to clean the connection when you reconnect it, you can cover it with silicone to help prevent rust/corrosion.
