Just started streaming Pandora music through my home theater rig a few month's ago. I really enjoy it.. the sound is not to bad. It's only stereo, but sounds better than I thought it would.

Left and right separation is quite good too. very stable streaming too..

hip hop music has a lot of bass.. gives me subwoofer a real workout. ;)

anyone else stream Pandora or another online music feed though their system and are you happy with the quality?

I listen to pandora pretty regularly. I am pretty happy with it considering what it is. I listened to XM online at it sounds considerably worse than pandora. I thought that it would be better since it is a pay service and pandora is free but that is not the case.

packet, i agree.. i had XM for about 6 month's. never thought the quality was there... most stations sounded like a cassette tape (very crushed dynamics).. only a few sounded good enough to me. i didn't keep it needless to say.

Pandora has pretty decent sound quality surprisingly though.

I love pandora for finding artists similar to what I listen to now but...... The better the system you have the worse it gets ie ... My rti8 sound awesome with pandora but if you listen with a high end speaker it sounds really bad , harsh yet bland

I used to listen to Pandora but I switched to Grooveshark.com. I like the fact that you can skip songs as often as you like and it won't lock you out. Grooveshark's database is massive.

Hi,,, I listen to Pandora -- but in February i expended my 40 free hours. I also listen to Last.FM.... I also listen to WinAmp/Shoutcast.

And now.... for the rest of the story. I use streamripper when i listen to winamp. I rip Jazz Excursion Radio station, Dinner Jazz Excursion station, And Brasil Flavored Bassa Nova station.

Next I use Last FM desktop application to "scrobble" the songs I ripped with iTunes.

Then when i'm listening to them on Last.FM I add the artists I like the most to Pandora.

Do I have too much time on my hands?

Just curious how others have this connected to the HT setup. I currently am using the headphones out on my old laptop to an analogue in on the receiver. It sounds ok i guess. Would like to get an external DAC but dont have the money at this time.

My AVR has Pandora built in, and it's pretty cool. Not something I'd listen to often though, and I'm getting far more use out of the DLNA network streaming than the online radio stuff.

Pandora not sure why it seems to sound better via my Samsung BD-P1600 Blu Ray player vs. my laptop. I thought at first my laptop had a crap DAC, so I retested it with a CD it sounded ok?

But now Pandora sounds ok with me.

Everyone heard of Pandora One - their premium service with higher quality (192 kbps) streaming?

    http://www.pandora.com/pandora_one

$36/year doesn't seem too bad for the higher quality and no monthly limit.

It doesn't work with Squeezebox yet though.

Their normal 128 kbps stream is OK for discovering music, but doesn't cut it for serious listening, IMO.

Has your free trial run out yet? I thought that it was a free app on my sony blu ray player also.... until 3 days ago when it said that I reached my listening limit and to go to the website to register. I am disappointed that it didn't say anywhere that it was a limited trial, I figured that it was just a part of the player... I am hooked now though, so I am sure I will register.

OK, so I was bored and looked around... it is free, you just need to create an account and link it to the device. The Slacker website messenger support is handy :)

I actually paid for Pandora One.. I didn't notice a huge difference listening to 128kbit versus the 192. Quality is good enough for what it is.. Great for at work when the crappy computer speakers someone else left here

Thats is very true. ^^^ the at work comment is the difference. There are times when I am at work and I have pandora playing all day on a certain channel. It is really just background noise and is not there to really listen to. It is more like the sound track to life you know. Then there are other times where you are at home and there is a different vibe to the entire thing. At work it is perfect for what it is. At home it is more of a real exploraion of artists.

Then there is the personal music collection that we have. Me personally I have about 80 GB of music that i have collected over the years. I do not own many cd's at all. In fact i ripped all of the actual CD's that i had to mp3 before I ever knew there was a difference bit rate. :( I have some quality recordings but not nearly as many as I would like.
