Done it, got the T-shirt and the novelty has worn off. I'm never going to use even a 1/5 of it's potential in the next few years with a little one running around so here it is for sale.

It's big, it's ugly but you won't beat it's output with anything less than a couple thousand in commercial sub offerings and your going to have to spend a considerable more even DIY using conventional sealed or ported subs.

It's finished in black Duratex(not that great of a job) but can be redone. I'll include the Emotiva BPA-1 amplifier as well.

Local sale only (Southern AZ, near Sierra Vista) Can deliever to Phoenix for $50 gas.

$500
FYI- I got a quote from a builder and just the sub/enclosure (no amp) was $1200. It's not the master craftsman work but it doesn't have any leaks and performs in line with what I've seen from others that have built it. (121db at 22hz with no measureable distortion). I was getting very strong output down to 16-17hz in my open plan living room.

...and just to be clear, I'm not selling this to "upgrade". There is nothing in my price range to upgrade too. It's complete overkill for my huge living room and has the SQ to match. If I ever get a dedicated room with an empty closet or attic, I will build another one.

Can't imagine shipping that monster. Otherwise I'd be intersted for such a cheap price. But how'd it sound? Be honest...

Point blank it's the cleanest sub I've heard to date, it's the closest thing I've heard to a live concert. I can understand why folded horns never became really popular in a home theater enviroment because of the huge enclosure required but your not fighting phyics as in a sealed sub....your actually using it to your advantage, hence such low distortion levels.

However, if you ever get a chance to audition one you'll understand why some can tolerate the size.

Here is what MaxMercy measured from his THT:

20Hz: 114dB at 4.5% THD. I did not push any further, as the panes in my windows were moving about 1/16" at the time. I think they would have broken if I went further. Above 20Hz, you can get damned near as much as you want dB-wise, all clean. Basically, from 16 or so Hz on up, you have strong bass, from 20Hz on up, INSANE bass. I designed the system to give me great sound at -10dB from reference (with Dynamic EQ frequency correction to account for equal loudness curves), which it does with flying colors flat down to around 16Hz before dropping off. Useful output down to 12Hz. All at less than 5% THD. In a sweep and distortion test of a $9950 sub, the Genelec HTS6... the Genelec runs over 10% THD at 115dB. This is significant, in that a sub almost 20 times less expensive to build can seriously compare with one of the best subs available.

Hmm. Those are almost IB numbers. Impressive for a cabinet. Without going through 14 pages of forum on your build, got pics?

Only have one online of it finished and it's partial hidden in a corner. I'll get some better ones up tonight.

Seems interesting. I have a road trip planned in mid April to AZ from the SF Bay Area. If its still available then I will be interested. Wife will need some convincing. Hauling the monster to an upper floor is going to take some doing too!

    36"h x 26" d x 24"w

    I would guess it's between 100-150lbs.

what driver and amp did you use? I presume the amp is included in the cost? Shipping an option?

The DVC Dayton 15" and yes the amp is included.

No shipping, it would need a crate built for it and yeah....it would cost probably half of what I'm asking.
