Wow the seperation and clarity with this Dodd gear is fantastic. I have been glued to this since yesterday, Listening to the Eagles HC right now, and all the little things you could hear before in the back are more pronounced and upfront. The cymbals are so clean almost like there in the room.

Well thats all, TUBES DO RULE!!! and I am having a having a good time at church this Sunday morning. LOL;)

I am only using the Dodd elp right now with the GFA-5802 and the SDA's, I want to be sure the Dodd amp is common ground. But the Dodd elp sounds fantastic with the Adcom.

Yesterday I was enjoying the tubes with my RTiA9's but after bringing the Dodd upstairs with the SDA's well let's just say that will be the last time they get the 2 channel treat. Now I really know why they are for HT and not 2 channel music listening.

Not too well. At only 8/wpc and the 8's being larger. In a small room at decent listening level they would be ok.

These are what you need for RTi 8's

He says it sounds amazing with those tubes, I can't wait!

Hey Sal, do what I did with the 750, run the tube pre thru the HT bypass, that way once you set the levels of both pre's you can sit back with the Adcom remote and compare the two by switching the HT bypass button.

    Enjoy

It works great and I did this for about 3 months when I was A/B'ing the Dared and the Dared surprisingly gives up very little compared to the Adcom. Plus I still have it hooked up that way so if I want to watch a movie or just listen to background music I don't have to turn the tube pre-amp on, but if I want to listen to tubes it's just a switch away.

So I can listen to passive, active or tubes depending on my mood and no need for hooking and unhooking. It really works out quite well as far as flexibility.

That's an interesting setup. I may have to try that on my Anthem Pre 1L. I have modified caps on mine also (can't remember whether they were Sonicaps or Mundorfs). I am running a matched quad of JAN Phillips NOS 6922s on mine and it sounds great. I wonder if Drew has ever compared the mixed Mazda/Mullard setup to the Phillips and how they compare?

I had a quad of Phillips 6922's in the Anthem and they were OK and similar to the Amperex 6922 Holland manufactured tubes I also have. They are all fairly affordable tubes and far better than the Russian tubes. The Mazda and Mullard tubes bring things to a new level in every way, shape and form.
I have far too much going on to try a pair of Phillips/Amperex in the mix with a pair Mullard/Mazda tubes. I most likely will never try it anyway so I am sending them off to Sal to try and then when he is done we'll see what happens.

TUBES RULE NO DOUBT ABOUT IT

Awesome. Thanks for the reply. It sounds like I'm definitely going to have to try the Mullard/Mazda tubes sometime. It'll be interesting if Sal experiments with anything else and here what he finds. Ahh the fun of tube rolling. If only the funds for permitted, I would have about a dozen quads of 6922s all waiting for their turn. Thanks again for the reply.

Dodd's pretty good gear. The good thing about tubes is the flexibility of options. Plenty of different tube brands to 'roll', tube pre-amp with solid state power amp, or an all tube setup. You can really have a lot of fun experimenting with various combos out there to get the most out of your money. :)

Since I had the cash I decided to go with four high performance tubes instead of two hi-performance and two low to mid performing tubes. In the Anthem the front two tubes influence the sound more than the rears. I was told by Doro why but I don't remember the details. Maybe one of the guys will chime in.
By going with the Mazda and Mullard tubes I can switch them around to tweak the sound if I get board or just want to change things up a little.
I relied on Brent Jessee at http://www.audiotubes.com/ to help me with my decisions.
If I were a tube expert maybe I could have saved some money I guess but feel real comfortable taking the Brent Jessee route.

I just added an EL34 integrated to my collection and I've definitely been enjoying it. It's just starting to break in, and its warming up my room quiet nicely!
