Need Help Selecting Polk In-Walls for a HT
Hello everyone:
Thanks for looking. I need some professional advice on which set of Polk In-Wall Speakers to go with for a theater room that we are doing. As of now, we have narrowed down the selection for the front speakers to the TC265i or the LC265i. The surrounds will be LC65FX. I spoke with someone who works with Polk and they feel the TC would be better then the LC because you can really crank these speakers and they will handle it. He feels the LC will get somewhat weak and hollow sounding when the theater is cranking. Unfortunately, I never really worked with Polk speakers even though i have been a dealer for a while.
Anyway, any advice or recommendations would be helpful. I am still not 100% if we are going to go with Polk at all but I figured information from actual Polk users will help in my decision.
Thanks.

I'm curious to hear more about this subject too.

Your decision really depends on what you'll be driving them with. The TC's are much easier to drive since they are 8Ohm speakers. The LC's are 4Ohm speakers and will require some serious amplification to have them reach their full potential. If you don't properly power them, you may experience the weakness mentioned by the Polk person you talked with. If properly amplified, I can't imagine that you'd be disappointed with the LC's. Go with them if you can afford it and the amplification.
Probably the most important speaker selection will be your center channel since it carries the majority of the HT soundtrack. If you're concerned about it not keeping up, put in two center speakers , one above and one below your screen. Are you also looking at using their in-wall subwoofer?____________________________________________________________

I have the Tc265i for the front. The center is tc65i. The rears are tc60i and the back rears are tc610i. the rears are boxed and sealed in. A Velodyne DLS-4000R Subwoofer On a Yamaha RX-V1065 7.2. It sounds great. I want to get the Emotiva xpa-3 200 Watts x3 for the fronts. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking the same thing -- Emotiva to help drive the speakers. The performance enclosures for the LC265i/TC265i just arrived at my door this morning. I'll be framing those in this weekend.
