Speaker stands

I need help with what size speaker stands to get for my B&Ws I recently picked up. I got a pair of DM602 S3 and a pair of LCR600 S3. I'm going to use the LCR600 S3 in stereo for now.

I'm thinking about a used 10 yr old pair of Target stands that are 24" tall. Top plate is 6x6 and the base plate is 9.5x9.5. Are the plates big enough to hold the DM602 S3? Will these be stable enough for these large speakers?

If these are too small, what are the dimensions that I need for the plates?

Also the speaker spikes are gone. Are they needed?

The speaker size is 9.3x11.5 and 8x12.2

Thanks.

Hi Polkht, my roommate recently upgrade to the B&Ws (or B-Dubs as we call them. hehe). He's running two sets of the 601s (HxWxD - 14''x8''x8'') with the cc6 s2 matching center. The stands are 31'' tall and seem to be the perfect height for the tweeters when sitting down, but also tall enough where they still have great projection when standing. The top plate on stands is 5''x5'' and the bottom 11.5''x10''.

The top plate has a perfect fit and although our bottom plate is a little bigger than yours, I don't think you would have a problem. That being said, you are missing your feet which would worry me (especially on your carpet). If I were you I would do a mock setup: put the speakers on the stands and see how secure they feel, test the base's sturdiness and how the speakers sit on the plates. You don't want them taking a tumble!

You might want to check out this website for some very decent prices on stands (this is where one of our stands was purchased - el cheapos and they work great and look decent enough).

If I had a little bit of money to play around with, I would probably go with these guys (I like the double pillar look on the B-Dubs. ;)
