I just got a new (to me) universal player (a Denon 3910) from fellow a Polker dbaldus. It's my first SACD capable player, and now I need some discs!!! :D

I'm looking for really nice recording quality above all else, somethin that'll show off the SACD format well. 5.1 channel would be nice, but good 2 channel is cool too.

My musical preference is for jazz and electronica, but I like rock, hip-hop, and classical too.

I'd prefer to buy in bulk to save money per disc, but I'll definitely pick one or two up off ya if it's something interesting. Thansk for lookin! :)

Any Spyro Gyra or Yellowjackets on SACD is good. I'd also try Monty Alexander; all his stuff are EXCELLENT recordings.

First disk you should get is Dark Side of the Moon.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

I need to get that one....I remember when this first came out on vinyl and we wore it out on those cheap turntables we had back then!

Does anyone know if it might be 'cheaper' to buy SACDs in Japan? I'll be there for a while in the summer! Perhaps I should PM sherardp?

Thanks for the good suggestions everyone! DSOTM is definitely on my list.

Why are some SACDs so darn expensive? Are they just rare? I was looking for a copy of Steely Dan's "Gaucho" (a phenomenally engineered recording), and the cheapest I could find was like 60 bucks.

Paid 28.00 for mine a couple years ago, IIRC. Another polkie asked me recently about Jeff Beck's, Blow by Blow SACD. I only paid 13.00 and change for this one a couple years ago too. Now it's in the same 60.00 ballpark.

Many are OOP and becoming more difficult to find, hence the higher prices. Check out what some of the MoFi gold discs sell for now that are OOP. I'm sitting on a small goldmine if I ever wanted to sell.

LOL I picked up about 35 MoFi gold discs a few years ago for $5 each in perfect condition, hell they are worth alomost as much as gold now a days...its those OOP's that can bring the big bucks.....

back to thread..DSOTM was my first SACD, second was Eat A Peach which sounds quite nice for a AB recording
