2 ohm vs. 4 ohm

I have an Autotek 66 mean machine (2 ohm stable) which i bought about 13 years ago, to which i've always bridged a single 15"/4 ohm Kicker. I've never had any complaints and it has always performed well. I've bought a different car (97' camry) and i would now like a cleaner, less rattling bass. My question is, would i get a better sound from dual 8"/2 ohm vs. a single 12"/4 ohm? I would like to spend around $300 for speaker(s) and box. All suggestions appreciated.

Hey loft, welcome to Club Polk. You may get better help from our gear heads a little farther down on the front page of the forum is a car audio section. Try reposting there, if not a few of our guys pull double duty, like concealer404 (sp) and can offer some advice too.
