Finally...a store that cares!

As you many remember, I posted recently about my experiences with electronics stores and the lack of interest or service on the part of the salesperson, as well as the pathetic excuse for demo rooms that you can possibly imagine.

Well today I had a very pleasant surprise as I walked into a store call "Fillion Electronique". I certainly new they existed because I bought a t.v. from them about 20 years ago (it's still running btw).

I was expecting to repeat the same scenario as with other stores...projector not set up, the room not ready, the salesman having difficulty operating the thing..etc etc..

Boy was I wrong, they had 2 dedicated theater rooms that were properly set up. The sales guy, Philip, was pleasant and knowledgeable, welcoming me to their store, offering coffee or cappuccino (I took the cappuccino) and explaining to me the details of projectors and answering all my questions.

The room had 2 screens set up one behind the other for comparison purposes. Electrically operated, one type would be raised to show the difference between another type right behind it. Lighting was varied to show the effects on each screen.

I spent about an hour there, I felt really good, plus they had some higher end audio gear there as well. It's the type of place I feel that I can just walk in, say hi, and play my music or movie without any hassle.

Philip did not make any attempt to "get" the sale either (that was different) by offering payment plans or any such stuff. He was a darn good salesman, and if there was something in particular he didn't know the answer to, he'd ask a co-worker or look it up.....very professional. He may not be the "best" or most "knowledgeable" salesperson, but he was friendly and courteous (even though I was dressed in jeans and not a business suit).

So now I'm leaning towards the Panasonic PT-AE 4000 and a fixed screen.

I'll be going back there with my wife and daughter because they still need some convincing that a projector is the way to go. So far, with the projectors I've shown them in other stores, they are dead set to NOT get a projector.

There will be a delay to get the projector unfortunately, because I just spent some of my projector money on home renovations (that made my wife VERY happy)...but it's coming!!

Joe, I hate to break this to you, but.... that was no retail store. It was a time portal.
    You went BACK in time:eek:

 I like that PORTAL explanation.:D

Just when you think your down, or busted or lost or whatever, like thinking there's no good sales people left in the audio world.
Alot of times the opposite will happen to make you shake your head.;)

    Yin Yang

Now the opposite has happened to me too , just to keep me grounded I feel.:o
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
