IMO a complete system is a relative term. Generally speaking, it may mean a "completed" or finished system, whether it be a 2-channel music hifi rig, or a custom, state-of-the-art 7.1 HT setup. It should be a "completed" set of speakers, amplification, switching, processing, source...

I think I will only have a complete system when I am dead.

So many of you guys here with amazing setups always always wanting more
I have saw the setups on audiogon with just tons of equipment and they mention that its not a complete system yet?? . It made me ask this question because I couldn't think what else they needed -
No system is complete without tubes and a turntable.

A "complete system" is something that you are 100% satisfied with. So the question goes, if you feel the system is "complete" then why is it for sale?
On the other hand, someone could list a system as for sale as "complete" because it totally satisfies 2 ch or HT purposes. Shiiiit any one can do that. A HTIB system is a "complete system....."
Buyer beware when such superlatives are being used! -
My system is complete, temporarily speaking.

Do you guys and gals remember that man who had a huge circle of speakers and then the McIntoshes were on the floor in a huge circle too.
Now that was a complete system I think. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
