Found this positive review after bringing my own A7s home but have to say after a few months of living with them, I wish I'd written it.

Good stuff, Polk. Thanks!

I will admit to never hearing these speakers but I owned the Rti 10s and would not call them "warm" by any stretch. Either the new line is much different than the old line or the reviewer's sense of warm is much different than mine.

I got the A7s in December making space for them by gifting my older RTi10s to my daughter. Wasn't sure if it was my imagination or the fact that I replaced every component in my system, but definitely hear a warmer sound from the 7s.

My old power was a 100wpc Sony and it's been replaced with an Onkyo SR-707. Source equipment has been changed as well, so ... there are a lot of variables in what I'm hearing.

Still, it's nice to read good Polk stuff and thought it worth sharing.

I demo'd the A5 in my system for a month and IMO the new A series are slightly warmer than the last generation speakers.

I've got the A5's, while my in-laws have the RTI8's. The 5's sound much better, but I don't know if that's due to every other variable that has been changed. They have onkyo txsr702, I have Pioneer 1018. They have a room that is much more open than mine, and twice the size. etc...

I'm glad to hear that the changes were more than cosmetic.

It's due to the variables mentioned. Very very similar sound to them.

I can't speak to the larger speakers, but I recently spent 2 hours in Fry's Electronics doing a side by side comparison of the RTi4 and RTi A1. Trying to decided if the A1 was worth the extra money.

In the end I went with some refurbished A1's from polk direct for almost the same price as the new RTi4's would have been.

The two speakers sounded incredibly similar and you would be fine mixing the two series in a single system, but the A1 to me sounded just slightly better. I feel like it had a bit more detail in the mid range. Also, I didn't like the look of the silver front on the RTi4 -- you can still see it on the edges even with the grills.
