Budget? First things first, if you don't have a center channel and you do any HT at all, I would recommend that be your first purchase. The CSi5 would be my choice. Also, if you want to run an external amp, you will need an AVR that has pre outs and they tend to be a bit pricier, but you can get a decent one for around $500-$600. Give us a littl more info and we will get you hooked up. Welcome to Club Polk.

Are you going for a stereo set up or 5.1 surround ? What kind of budget do you have in mind ? What are your listening habits ?

What is the difference in 5.1 and stereo I'm learning on the run?

5.1 stereo uses all five speakers instead of the traditional 2 ch. mode that only uses the fronts. Most prefer 2 ch only because if it is setup right it will sounds as good or better than 5.1/ Some people like to be "surrounded" by their music and other than gettind some SDA's. most 2 ch rigs don't have the effect that a 5.1 would. Are you going to be doing any HT at all or is this setup strictly for music?

Well in that case I would suggest you look into adding a center to your rig and the one I would suggest would be the CSi5, it can be had for around $250 at a few diff. websites. As for your AVR, if you want to be able to add an amp to the mix you will have to make sure it has pre outs, or else you will be out of luck. Some models would include the Onkyo TX-SR706 or higher, the Yammaha RX-V665 or higher, the Pioneer Elite VSX-21TXH or higher, just to name a few. They can be had for around $400 for the Yammy, to around $700 for the Pioneer and Onkyo. Other brands to look into would include Denon and HK as well, just make sure that whatever AVR you choose it has pre outs or you will be out of luck on adding an external amp. As for surrounds you can look into the FXi5, but they are hard to come by these days, and to be honest timbre matching your surrounds isn't as important with surrounds as it is with your front three, so you can go outside the family on those. Maybe the FXi A6's are worth a look since they are of similar design as the FXi5's, but they are pretty spendy at around $560 a set. The FXi A4's will also work and they are around $450. As for amps, look into Adcom, Rotel, Sunfire, Emotiva just to name a few. With a $2,000 budget you should be able to get everything you are looking for, and get some of the best equipment around. Good luck and I'm sure you will get more suggestions on this. Also, don't be afraid to look into used models on CL or Epray, also the Polk Ebay store has some very good deals as well and is a very good site to buy from.

Try to get your hands on a Pio SC25. The IceAmps play well with the RTi series.
