Saturday project complete!

Well, I endeavored on a upgrade this weekend and it turned out to be a complete Saturday project! But WEEEEELLLLLL worth it!
Here are the upgrades I mention! Took all day Saturday to get everything presentable!
So here are the supplies for my video upgrade! Optoma HD20, Elite Screen Sable Series 100" 16:9 fixed frame, Forza 700 Series HDMI cable (12M), Level Mount Universal mount, Polk PSW110 10" sub (for my matching .2 setup...heheh)
My friend Gary who helped with a majority of the work that need drywall work. Thanks Gary!
Optoma HD20 mounted
Completed setup - I'm still fiddling with the center channel holder - it was the TV stand for my 60" DLP, so I think I can make some improvements here. I also need some cable management.
Complete setup - straight view using a camera phone. Will update this.
Gotta get a copy of Avia II to do some video calibration, but out of the box and with some minor tweaking everything looks pretty darn good!

Have to admit your installation looks very nice and neat. Congrats on the PJ and the new screen. The Optoma HD20 is 1080p @ an excellent price. Sit back and enjoy the show. Front projection is where it's at, especially if the room permits. 100" image is killer in 1080p. Congrats again.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Nice work! I just built a similar screen for my company's conference room. Nothing like a 8 foot wide power point!!!!
By the way....did you use a off-the-shelf blackout material? I used the same from a local fabric store, JoAnns. -
You might want to try pulling the center channel forward some...so that the baffle doesn't have the shelf below it. It may or may not make an improvement...but it could change the dispersion characteristics slightly. It would be easy enough to try in either case.
Looks fantastic!! Looks like you did a real quality job setting everything up!The nirvana inducer-

That looks really nice. How much of a difference did adding the second psw110 really make. I have a single 110 now and am looking to get another sub to replace it. Maybe adding a second 110 would give me what I am looking for and save alot of money in the process.Front - RTiA5's

That's a sweet setup you have there! Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I think the screen came with the material already attached. Most screens do. My 126" screen from Carada came with the blackout material already attached to the frame.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Very nice setup !!!!
You're in for a real treat. Make sure you post some screen shots in the "screen shots thread". -
Looks awesome, from the looks of it Gary needs to continue working too
-
Love that SCREEN/PROJECTOR! Awesome! Really! Matching subs look nice the M50s really need that. Otherwise, nice system!
What's the break-in film going to be??
Enjoy..

Awesome looking man.
-
looks great, congrats on the projector. I'm sure you will LOVE the increased picture size.
-
Thanks for all the comments! I'm still tweaking - finally got the projector to aim/throw exactly the way I wanted it. The break-in film was Pan's Labryinth on HD-DVD - looks absolutely amazing! Then I popped in Happy Feet - I'll definitely get a screen shot of that!
The 2nd PSW110, really does make a difference - however, instead of having both up front, I think I'm going to move one to behind the seating - there's so much more impact (with movies) with that configuration!
The screen came with velvety fabric outline on the frame, so I didn't need to do much for it: just set it and forget it! LOL!
I agree - that I may have to get bigger speakers now! LOL!!! As far as moving the center forward, I thought that the center speaker needed to be further back than the two fronts ... this is still correct right? However, I don't like having the center being so close to the wall - I'm afraid of muddy sound due to reflection. Gonna toy with that as well.
Games looks great - but we have an older xbox 360 that only goes up to 1080i....so my wife let me go out and buy an Xbox Elite and we'll move the old one into our bedroom. God, I love that woman!!! And it looks like we'll be FINALLY getting a BD player tonight. So either the stars have aligned, or she's plotting to kill me!!!Living room:

Yeah I guess you should be 'careful' there!
Nah! Pan's Labyrinth must look great on your system in HD-DVD...and I love Happy Feet...I've seen it more times than my daughter....(Dad...not Happy Feet...Again!!)
Enjoy!

Have another question for ya.
how does the projector respond to non-ideal lighting in the room. I was always afraid that i would be too bright in my room for it during the day. Is this the case. Alsoo how long does the bulbs last. I have a 3 year old that watches alot of Disney channel and would not want to be purchasing bulbs all the time.Front - RTiA5's

Low to medium lighting didn't seem to bother the screen/projector too much. Direct light certainly made a difference, so as long as you aren't beaming a flashlight at it, it looks pretty good (naturally low, to no light looks best). I'll take a picture tonight with different lighting conditions and post it up for reference.Living room:

I have the center on the plane as the fronts and it blend in very well.
As far as bigger speakers goes, you may want to consider Polk RT2000Ps or better yet RT3000Ps. Both can be had for a very reasonable price tag.
I use RT2000Ps with a CS350LS center. Match them with my NAD T765 and they sound awesome.God, I love that woman!!! And it looks like we'll be FINALLY getting a BD player tonight.
I'm in the same boat. My wife asked me why we don't have Blu-Ray player!!!So either the stars have aligned, or she's plotting to kill me!!!
LMAO! I get the same feeling especially when I wake up in the middle of the night and find her just sitting there staring at me. -
