Thank You Polk Audio and Mark !

It was an eventful day, I started by running out to Radio Shack, picked up some Monster Cable ( 50 % off woo hoo ). I then came back home, and started to rewire my porch internal and external set up, as the wires were quite old, and a few sets actually patched together ( I know, I know ). While I was fishing fat wires into small holes, my recently won on ebay from the Polk store, R150's came delivered from Fed Ex. ( I had received my recently won Atrium 5'
s just a bit over 24 hours prior and we have been hit with hard rains on and off ). The rain wasn't going to stop me this time, or was it ? I had rewired and set up, the Monitor 40's on their own in the dining room ( from surround status ) and tested, 1000x better than the Sony SS-MB-150H's that are now surrounds ( for now anyway ). I then wired the R150's for the back porch and tested. Great, sounded 900x better than the Advents with the fake sub/satellites. Then, on to the Atrium 5's, my recently won by a very generous Polk Audio and Mark. Karma does win, thank you, thank you. Run the wires, ( started to rain again, just in time ) tucked the wires into the J channel, got my number ten screws ( 4 of them to ease my paranoia ) and plinked those Atrium 5's right into place with ease ( and no wrestling, nice ) and voila ! Tested with an old Chicago CD and just sat there the entire album( after taking photos, enjoying the heck out of that crystal clear sound. I actually had to go adjust the bass and treble. Boy those old rock speakers ( that are going to the Salvy Monday in Charlotte ) you could turn the bass and treble any which way and unless maxed negative, couldn't really tell the difference. These Polk Atrium 5's are almost too responsive, dare I say. It is nice to actually have a purpose when adjusting the treble and bass. Listening to that Chicago, I can pick up on that static you hear with old master record recordings, I can hear the rhythm piano I never could hear on other speakers not Polk. wOw, these Atrium's are incredible. I will listen to nothing other than Polk when I am in control of that, forever. These Atrium 5's just reinforce my faith in Polk Audio. Thank you Mark, thank you Polk ! Next on my list, to get either the db or the MM for the Caprice, then a sub or three, one for the car, one for the HT, and one for the truck and back porch, ok four. Thanks again ! These speakers are superfantastic. The weathered one is on the right, betcha can't tell !
They sound great and fill my entire back yard. I took photos of the Polk's, then my wife did ( eventually, no further explanation necessary ), then I panned across my back yard, which is pretty much woods, and encloses the sound nice on a back lot about 100 feet wide, and 100 feet deep before the heavy tree lines. Nice. :cool:Perfect, actually.

SOPAThank God for different opinions. Imagine the world if we all wanted the same woman -
Congrats JKF!!! When I demoed these the one thing I noticed was the exceptional sound dispersion properties of the speaker.
FYI. the one I marked weathered, was abused beyond belief. I completely submerged it in a tub of water for a few hours, it was frozen into a solid block of ice, and left in a pile of snow for a week, and then driven REAL hard for several hours. After all that, when compared to the other speaker, which was not abused, there was no difference in sound.
Do you find the 2 speakers sound the same???
Nice score on a great little speaker.
Jimmy -
Yes, they definitely do sound great.
The sticker on the grille took more paint off the weathered one, that is the only difference, except a little grille spotting.
The speakers are top notch.
Best outdoor speakers I have ever heard, as well as have owned.
Block of ice ?
Tub of water ?
Now that is a demo.
When my wife found out your comments, her jaw dropped, and she said " wow, they put out a good product "
But, she knew this before, as with any Polk speaker, you simply hear sounds you don't hear from the others. Listening to Chicago yesterday, I was pointing out the rythm piano in one song, as well as the record hiss, that normally isn't picked up with such clarity on the competitors.
I am sure, both speakers will be just fine.
They spent last night outside in freezing temps, after being installed in the driving rain.
Just look at my pics, the one shows the Daisy's laying down it was raining so hard.
I have to run out to the store before I come back and tease the neighbors some more.
I will work these 20 hours before I review them.
How many hours did you and whoever else demo them for ?
I assume they are broke in ?
they sound great, that is what matters.
And I really couldn't beat the price, AYE !Onkyo TX-NR636

Oh yeah definitely. Been out here for awhile now working for the famous Green/Yellow. I'm trying to score a pair of Atriums myself. Nice write up and I'm looking forward to your thoughts as you spend more time with them. I have family in SC so maybe we can catch up sometimes.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Congratulations, BTW...~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
