Blown Speakers Options?

So it seems like the tweeters in the Sony KD-34XBR960 have blown. Not sure what caused this, but now both tweeters make an awful crackling sound whenever you use the TV.

Is it worth it to purchase the expensive replacement part from Sony or just replace the drivers with ones from Parts Express? The problem is if I go with generic drivers from PE, I doubt they will fit. I took apart the TV and it has a large woofer, two tweeters on each side and mids. Impressive audio setup for just a TV - this thing can actually shake the room :)

If you have a surround sound setup, why are you using your TV's internal speakers? I don't even know if my TV's speakers work.

You obviously don't have anyone else using your system then.

How about just extending and fishing the leads out of the set, and using some mini speakers instead ?

might be able to find a similar TV (Sony ?) and yank the parts that you need.
perhaps the speaker part was used in several different models.
