Best Budget Subwoofer

Hello,

I have read alot of forums about subwoofers, but they all discuss things which I think are ridiculously expensive and way over my head.

I was wondering what everyone thought would be the best overall budget subwoofer for HT/Gaming/Music would be?

I would like to stay below $300.

I was considering the BIC H-100 but its review on this forum is near the bottom of the list, and below the Rocket X-Sub which is cheaper. Ive also heard SVS and Velodyne, but those seem to be out of my price range(correct me if Im wrong).

Any ideas?

I can get the BIC H-100 for the same price of $229.00 on Overstock.com. Is this not a good sub?

Never heard either, but I have heard the PSW505 and other Polk subs and the 505 is a solid sub for $250.

If you could just stretch it just a little bit more, Polk has a real nice wireless sub. Here's the skinny....

+1 on the psw505, I have the 505 and love it..got it from jr.com for 227.99 free ship (price beat from newegg)..not sure on the other 2..but at just 1/4 the power this sub is loud...I've only cranked it way up once or twice and it shook the walls w/o any noticeable distortion...I highly recommend it for the price!

Polk Refurbs are a great idea...for HT though I'd choose the DSW600 over the smaller driver but greater powered 2000. The reason...it can play louder and lower than the 2000 even though the 2000 is most 'definitely' the better sub for music! In a smaller room, though, the 2000 would also be fine for HT.

Why does it say on the polk website that the pro 600 has 250 watts RMS, 500 watts peak, but at the bottom it says 1200 RMS, 2000 Peak?

I'm looking to upgrade my subs since they are about 10 years old. Would you guys recommend getting two PSW505's for $460, or two BIC F12's for $374? Or would I be better of going with a $400-$500 single sub? I will be using them 95% of the time for movies in my HT, and about 5% for music. My HT room is a sealed room which is about 22x15x12 = ~4000 cu ft)

I have someone who's going to be buying my current subs for $400 for the pair, so depending on which ones I go with I'll be getting a free upgrade or at least pretty close to it! :D

The 505 is a solid choice for any HT and for $229 shipped it is hard to beat. A single sub has it's benefits as it is easier to setup. Dual subs can be a pain to get running right, but if you have two of the exact same sub it can make it easier. Two subs will be a good choice and will be great if you get them setup right. A single sub from SVS, Velodyne or Epik would be better than two "entry level" subs, IMHO. So it is really up to you and your budget.

Tried bidding on a Pro 600 on the eBay site, but some other dude was willing to pay 400$ for it, and if I was gonna pay that much I woulda went with a eD sub.

I just pulled the trigger on the PSW505 for $220 with BCB.

This extremely poorly written article is a waste of time. While some of the products fit the article’s definition, it appears the author knows little if anything about which they wrote.
