I had few listings that I was interested in and went to see.
Monitor 10A with peerless $100: went to check out, pushed the passive but it came back in less than 1 second....corners were damaged and grills werent in great shape either....told the owner not buying it....not happy and left...
there's few more but i can't remember all the details right now...anyone else had similar experience? went to check out then decided not to buy??

Many times, although not too many audio related. Vehicles, farm equipment & shop tools most often.

The passive coming back out quickly was most likely due to something as simple as the screws needing to be tightened. That's usually the case.
Even with a little damage, a pair of Peerless 10A's for $100 is a killer deal, especially if it's local and you don't have to pay shipping. It would easy enough to put some new fabric on the grills, and even rebuild the corners and reveneer the cabinets.
Just sayin...Those are some great sounding speakers. The nirvana inducer-

There's another monitor 10 seller with stands priced at $125 OBO...it looks like a peerless and local too....I am sure I can score them with $100 offer unless it's soldVideo: LG 55LN5100/Samsung LNT4065F

You need to worry when pressing in on the passive doesn't make the MWs come out at all! That usually indicates shifted magnets/frozen drivers.:)

How about B&W 802 Series 80
one cabinet had water damage on one side....joints were separated and cracks on every joint....tweeter cabinet was dented on both speakers...as the grills were ripped and needed to be replaced... but sounded great and worked...
basically buying drivers and crossovers for $300-500...I passed but couldn't get them out of my head...Video: LG 55LN5100/Samsung LNT4065F
