New setup - new to HT design

The house I moved into already had pre-cut ceiling holes for main and surround sound. The front holes were approx 10" so I bought some RC80i's for the front.

The rears were approx 9", so I bought some RC60i's for them. After reading posts I figured I would complete the setup with all Polk speakers then decide on a receiver.

I'm looking at a Pioneer VSX 1019 Receiver, Polk RM8 center, Polk PSW10 for the sub.

I currently don't have a setup, so I am assuming anything would be better, but I'm curious as to what the pro's may think of this setup? Anything I should re-think? I'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon after. I would like to stay within this budget as well.

What budget are you trying to stay within?

Personally, I'd look elsewhere for the center channel. The timbre match for the RCi series would be either the Monitor or TSi series, and also the OWM series. I'd recommend going with either a CS1, or a CS10. A single OWM 3 or OWM 5 would also work well.

Remember, the center channel is basically the most important speaker in a HT setup. Aside from carrying nearly all of the dialogue in a movie, it's also responsible for anchoring all of the front and center sound effects. This adds up to the center channel carrying roughly 50-60% of a movies soundtrack. You really don't want to skimp on it.

I'm not sure if it's a possibility, but have you considered going with an in-wall center channel? Judging by your choice of the RM8, I'm guessing you want to keep it small. Going in-wall would allow you to use a much beefier center, without taking up all that real estate.

You may also want to look into a slightly beefier sub. The PSW10 is decent for what it is, but really leaves a lot to be desired. There's a whole realm of bass information that the PSW10 isn't even capable of reproducing.

The PSW505 is a very nice sub, and can be had for about $250 from several different places. You mentioned not wanting to upgrade again anytime soon, so I'd strongly suggest going with something more like the 505.

I don't have any experience with that Pioneer, so I can't really comment on how well that will work with those speakers.
